I did. We got quite a few hot bats: Gibbs, Jones, Landry, etc.

In the scrimmage, Chad Jones crushed the very first pitch (off Austin Ross) into left center.

Carl the Cat was an umpire today.

I am not knocking anyone for this, but does people really go out to the baseball practices on a regular basis?

Has Gibbs' power improved as far as you can tell?

Mainly Jones & Landry. The scrimmage was only 2½ innings, so we didn't get to see a whole lot.

Gibbs looked good in BP, sending several pitches out onto Nicholson. I don't recall him coming to the plate in the scrimmage.

The game was a 2 1/2 inning scrimmage. Practice started at 12 and the scrimmage began about 2:00ish. I would estimate maybe about 75 fans in the stands.

Chad Jones went 2-2 with a BOMB and a double off the wall. The purple team(non-starters) sent 12 people to the plate, and the Gold team(starters) batted 9.

Austin Ross started for the Gold team and struggled for his first outing. Gave up 4 hits in the 1st inning, one being the first pitch HR by Jones.

Ochinko started at 1B and then in inning 2 went to catch. Gibbs started at C and in the 2nd inning went to 1B.

PURPLE TEAM
Jones-LF
Hanover-2B
Nola-SS
Dozar-C
Pontiff-RF
Matook-CF
Delatte-3B
Gaudet-DH
Didier-EH
Haydel-1B
Zeigler-EH
Dishon-EH

GOLD TEAM
Landry-CF
Mitchell-RF
Dean-LF
Gibbs-C/1B
LeMahieu-SS
Schimpf-2B
Ochinko- 1B/C
Helenihi-3B
McGhee-DH

Pitchers

Does Chad Jones have a chance at filling that 3rd OF position?

Some people do. Parents, especially. I used to go for Sunday practices more often.

the only way that happens is if Blake Dean goes to DH instead of playing LF.

If Dean plays LF like he did today, then we dont have an opening at OF.

Only been 1 day of practice, but Jones today looked impressive. Can he keep it up?

I think so, esp. when Dean is DH. CJ did show a lot of speed on the bases today.

DHing- probably Gaudet or maybe a freshman that steps up like Matook.

Our infield was solid today. I really think this could be one of our better infielders fundamentally. Helenihi at 3rd, DJ at SS, Schimpf at 2B, Ochinko at 1st. We will be good there.

Yeah. Two umps; one of the regulars (I don't know his name) behind the plate and Carl in the infield. He made a call at 3B that his buddies in the stands gave him hell about.

Carl has been umpiring HS games for I think this is his 3rd year. And they usually get HS umpires to work the scrimmages.

He's Jordy's first caller every morning. He's at every LSU game, no matter what sport, men & women.
