@LoyalTiger I agree with you. If the SEC is the dominant conference, a contract with ABC shouldn't preclude the games from being shown at night. But do we actually know the numbers on how many people watch which games? Do most people who might watch on TV go out at night, or do they watch during the day, or what? It's second nature to say the primetime game is the prime-est, but I would love to know the numbers on that.

I don't know the actual numbers either, but IF day games were more attractive than night games, then why would CBS want ANY night games. But yet they do and are restricted only to one because of the ESPN deal.

Also, if we looked at the day ratings versus the night ratings, they would be skewed slightly because the "premier" SEC game is always 2:30.

I like the 11:30 games, but thats just because they come on at 6:30 pm for me here.

the 7 pm kickoffs start at 4 am on sunday for me (which is a workday, sunday - thurs), so those days i get to see LSU and the Saints in the same day.

Who cares, you say? A lot of folks up here don't get college football, but people like me are in cities all over the country selling LSU and LSU football to people like them, and to tell you the truth they've started to watch.

CBS is in the business of making money PERIOD! They don't care about someone's tradition, nor should they. Their job is to get thier product out to as many people as possible. As the OP stated, many areas of the U.S. are not huge fans of college football. Go to DC, Boston, Philly, Chicago, etc. I'm sure that CBS has a reason for placing their game of the week at 2:30 and although some my disagree, that reason is not to make LSU fans piss and moan about the start time. Many people outside of the southeast do other things (i.e. movies, dinner, bars, etc.) on Saturday nights besides watching college football.

CBS pays big money for the right to broadcast the "best" SEC game of the weekend. ALL SEC schools, including LSU, benefit greatly from that money, much more so that they money LSU would get from the purchase of LSU forks or a 15th "on my way to see the Tigers play" magnet

This is the era of college football that we live in. Get over it! As long as the CBS contract is in place, the same thing will happen next year.

@Alt26 was the "get over it!" directed to me? Did you actually read my post? I certainly wasn't complaining, I was actually saying that while a night game is preferred, in the end it's not the end of the world and LSU actually sees certain benefits. Yikes.
