Had great things to say about Sci Martin:
quote:

Then he blew up last season at McDonough 35 with over 30 quarterback sacks. He has a unique skill set to rush the quarterback. He’s lightning quick with his initial step toward the backfield. He also finds the ball fast.

quote:

Coach O raved about his pass rush potential. Now, he has added over 25 pounds of muscle and can fly up the field. The one thing that jumps out, other than his speed, is that he knows how to use his arms and hands to get around blockers. Now stronger, that element will get even better. His size, skill set, and ability to get up the field

quote:

Pressure breaks the pipe. Martin is a pipe-breaker and watch Aranda get him and Arden Key on the field during obvious passing plays.

After discussing the possibilities of the defensive line positions and rotation he said this:
quote:

the quickest spot to influence a quarterback is right up the middle and Godchaux can give you that.

I remember thinking Godchaux was switched to OL in the spring game as much as he was always five to 10 yards into the offensive backfield after just about every play.

quote:

Lets see what happens with Travonté Valentine. As I said, he could be an exciting difference-maker. They will give him and the freshmen a long look. Remember this is Dave Aranda’s defense and he will show you a lot more looks than in the past and also with different personnel groups.

He's being facetious, noting how much Godchaux was in the backfield

Detillier is awesome at player evaluation and incredibly knowledgeable about the game of football, but doesn't keep up with the day to day of LSU enough to know what he's talking about sometimes. He thinks Godchaux is gonna be the NG. He's not. Gilmore, Valentine, and Alexander have that taken care of.

What? He was moved to NG in the spring because they liked his quickness and ability to disrupt plays. He's the only one of the four that has been a starter. Depending on the opponent, he may play NG or DE. He may eventually stay at end if at least two of the others prove they can handle the position, but your assertion is ridiculous at this stage.

Well, you're most likely wrong here. The only way Godchaux does not play a lot of nose is if Valentine is total stud AND is in great shape. The first half of that sentence might be true, the second is not, and will never be true.

reports I've read already had godchaux back outside before the valentine news, gilmore at nose, godchaux and neal on the ends

I think Aranda will have guys moving around alot depending on down & distance. Think Godchaux can be moved to NT on passing downs with Neal & Key as your edge rushes. He will keep the offenses guessing all game long.

This is correct. Even prior to Valentine getting in, prior to Lacouture being injured.

I'm not, and the entire paragraph you typed is wrong.

As others have stated, he may play NT on passing downs, but that's not even a given.

OK. But you're incorrect.

Your info is wrong. Godchaux has played mainly NT. That'll change now, obviously. But he was set to get a ton of snaps in the middle of our defense.
