The problem with your theory is that the prevailing orthodoxy currently is extreme political correctness.

Tasteless speech even as satire is what is under attack not the "protected" groups. If anything tolerance has trumped reason. Satire even in poor taste should be more tolerated.

It does show our priorities as a country though that this sign is such a big deal but they didn't get in trouble for the one they had that said "This won't be the first time Virginia Tech has been massacred"

This. arse-backwards.

Sorry dude, but please explain to me how "Getting Massacred is Nothing New to Kent St" is "cool". I just don't see it.

I usually mock the "pussification of merica" folks but this is so fricking ridiculous. This was really the one that did them in? Come on.

The signs will be back by next season they just won't be crude and offensive in any way going forward.

DKE went beta as frick. Should be DKE Beta Beta not Zeta Zeta. Literally bent over and took it up the arse from the PC Police, no lube.

See. I don't think you understand. How can we "tolerate" intolerant thought? Only through INTOLERANCE can we become truly tolerant.

LSU is not the state. They are the landowners in this scenario and they get to make the rules just like your parents get to make the rules for you when you lived at home.

Law states that a school can limit freedom of speech if it goes against the schools values, or if it promotes or inhibits derogatory remarks that can hinder the name of the university.

This isn't a freed of speech issue. It is an LSU officially recognized organization , on LSUs campus.

LSU has the legal right, and frankly, a moral obligation to stop these signs.

unbeleivable.

referencing a massacre is fine but something as stupid as a gay player is too much.

Yea, my whole point was that they weren't able to do it before because DKE actually owned the land their house was on, and now they don't

It's offensive to a few, not many. Maybe people should stop getting offended over things that are hilarious.

Except it's not hilarious. It's a form of comedy based on shock value and vulgarity. Funny to some, but not to the vast majority of the intelligent population. I, personally, don't want LSU to have anything to do with this kind of comedy.

However, I am baffled as to why this is the sign that got DKE into trouble. They've had some truly scummy signs over the years.

I don't even think the sign is really a slur regardless. Sam is gay, so is it offensive to say he's probably getting some dick that night? Would there have been an uproar had they put a woman's name there?

Yeah, the dude chooses to have a 5 minute make out session on national TV with his BF but a sign implying that he makes love to his bf is a slur? BS It's prejudice to call that predjudice.
