We actually 16. You quoted fumbles gained only. We had 7 ints as well for 16. Still a decline, just trying to get the facts straight. Not as fall off the table as it appears by the first post.
yea thanks for checking me I wasn't on top of my numbers this morning appearently but they have been revised

Looks like you need over 30 turnovers on defense to win a National Championship.

Sure as hell doesn't hurt.

it especially doesnt hurt in the many close games that come from sec play. you figure one extra turnover for every sec game is a swing in 2 losses easily. i.e. arkansas and bama as close as they were.

Its not just about the turnovers.
Turnovers (like in our stats from last year) indicate a good defense overall. Hard hitting, a lot of pressure, frustrating pass coverage.... These LEAD to turnovers. Quarterbacks, backs and receivers try to do more than they should and turn it over.
It's not just about stripping the ball. You gotta have a good D!

If a stranger who knew nothing about LSU saw those numbers, I think they would project LSU had a losing record this season---we were lucky.
we did have a losing season...3-5 in the SEC. we lost to 3 top 10's..1 top 25..and and an away game to Ark on a short week (after what, 8 straight) when the season was already toast. Not an excuse...just the facts, mam.
