What happened to our defense? Majority of the threads today are on Etling/Harris. But what happened to our defense? We couldn't get pressure. We couldn't defend against the pass. And Donte Jackson seemed like he didn't know what was going on?

I know it's growing pains with a new Defense scheme and coordinator, but it doesn't appear our team completely understands how to run a 3-4. Your thoughts?

In regards to Donte, I think he is more undisciplined than it is scheme.

Yes I'm surprised no one has brought up the fact that they picked on donte all game. Seemed like a rough outing overall for him

Contrary to what people will say, that was a good offense we played. Some could even say a SEC caliber Offense. I think people are overreacting with the defense. The only threat State has deep is Fred Ross and they don't really have a backfield threat. I don't believe that Fitz will be able to run on us like he did against South Carolina. I also didn't think LSU would lose to Mississippi State ever again in Tiger Stadium so stranger things have happened. I must say if Fitz can run for over 100 yards against us this weekend, we will be in for a long season especially with Jalen Hurts at Alabama. That kid is special.

Second half was great. They fed off the offense and the crowd.

I was actually pretty shocked that Paris wasn't put in for donte after the long td. It was obvious to me he was having a horrible game.

It's porous but stingy on points. It will have to do for now. I give credit to Aranda - his voodoo is keeping points off the board for now.

After seeing his defense at Wisconsin, I must assume it will get better with the athletes we have. All defensive schemes require a period of adjustment.

This.

LSU will improve. And, I agree that completely changing D comes with some growing pains.

But, that was a really good O out there they were playing

I had high hopes for Ed Paris when he came into the program in 2014 but it seems to me that he's been buried in the depth chart. Especially when you have players like Saivion Smith, Kristian Fulton, and Eric Monroe coming in this recruiting class.

Possibly the best QB we face all season, you know what I honestly don't think Jalen Hurts is that amazing. Don't get me wrong he is good, but I think Kiffin is so good at building those kids confidence over the season that they play outside of their abilities. Which is great for Alabama, they do a great job calling plays that make their players play to their best abilities. I wish we could do something like that.

1)I think Aranda has kept it simple.we have done the same blitzing the last 2 games.

2) I think we need a better pass rush

3) valentine,Alexander, rashard, are our best dt, nothing against Gilmore but he is not getting the job done, try Gilmore at de

4) donte I feel needs to play more man coverage, also toliver hasn't played well either

5) We need to set the edges better to our de are being suck inside to much

6) Jefferson is not good in coverage

The only problem I see is the DBs take too many chances

Biggest thing I saw were some coverage issues. Both games.

Nothing is wrong with the defense.

1st game against Wisconsin, the defense was the only reason we had an opportunity to win, scoring half of our points in that game.

2nd game against JSU, we held a spread zone read offense team that averaged almost 40 pts a game last year and had scored over 30 the previous week to 13 pts. Also, when our offense netted zero 1st downs in the 1st qtr, the defense kept us in the game by giving up zero points. There was one busted coverage that allowed for the long TD, other than that it was a solid performance, giving up only 2 field goals. we had 3 sacks and 1 int, decent pressure against a spread zone read offense.

While the players are still getting comfortable with a new defensive scheme this year I am completely satisfied with them to this point in the season.
