Pretty weird how much we didn't like Auburn in the early 2000s and Bama was just another game.

This is so much more evident when talking to some of the old timers at work. My first season of LSU football was when Dinardo got here. I grew up HATING Auburn. Sure, Bama is the big "rivalry" now because they've been a little bit better than everyone the past few years, but when they cycle down to a few 3 or 4 loss seasons and aren't the team to beat, it won't be as heated for me. I absolutely LOVE beating Auburn, no matter how shitty of a team they put on the field.

Tiger stadium was electric that night. Wasn't this also the game when the Auburn kicker was trying to practice during the GBFTL's halftime performance and got his butt run over? This got the crowd stirred up even more for the second half.

Without question, that was THE angriest crowd in my years of attending games in Tiger Stadium.

- Huge game with LSU's first trip to Atlanta on the line
- Return game for the "Cigar" game from 1999
- Students were in the stadium HOURS before the game because of some Ripley's Believe it or Not thing they were filming...some chick shooting arrows upside down or some shite. She missed a few times and the students began chanting "OVER RATED!!"
- AU's fricknut punter nearly getting into a brawl with Tiger Band because he and the AU specialists came onto the field too early and refused to get the frick out of the way of the band.

The place was a soccer riot waiting to happen all night...LOVED IT!
i remember all of this. It was great.

Michael Clayton hit on punt coverage was one of the biggest hits I have seen! Up there with the Chad Jones Hit against Arky in 2010!

One of my favorite memories. Going on the field afterward with everyone smoking cigars. I still have a cigar from that game with the score written on the wrapper.

This was my last game in Tiger Stadium as a senior at LSU....I will never forget it. Rushed the field like a mad man. That game was a huge turning point for our program...very lucky to have been there.

Kicking off from the 50-yard line, LSU successfully executes an onside kick and scores a touchdown on the ensuing drive.

And on the kickoff after we scored to open the game, Michael Clayton broke Roderick Hood in half and the crowd went bananas the rest of the night. One of the hardest hits I've ever seen. Not surprisingly, some of the others are also by former LSU WRs (Lafell and Jarvis). Payback was a bitch for Auburn that night and we all smoked cigars.

3:19. If Micheal Clayton had played safety he might still be in the NFL.

Is it funny to be under 30 and still have long life in front of you?

Here's a thread from an Auburn board on that game. As usual, they make for great comic reading. LINK

ETA: Aubie's memory is a little confused...here's a great line from that thread

Was it the year before that their kickers tried to start a fight with our band?

There was also an AU equipment manager that was dying of brain cancer - he was apparently hit in the head with a battery thrown by one of the LSU 'fans' - not sure whether that was 2001 or 2003....
