He won't be gone if LSU keeps upping the pay.

This. No reason to go when you can get paid a metric shite ton to be a DC without the responsibility of being a head coach, coaching the best athletes in the country

Word is he wants to be an NFL DC. He's gone after a couple more successful years. Hopefully we win something in the next 2 years.

Yep.
If he puts out another top 5 defense this year with all the new starters, the NFL is going to give him 2 million to coach defense and not recruit a lick.
That is apparently his dream job.

And yet, with that look, the players still call him The Professor.

I keep hearing that about Aranda and the NFL. Yet, I cannot locate any printed or video article in which Dave says so himself.
It would seem like Aranda's personality demands him to compete at the highest level of competition. Yet, conversely, would he not have watched guys like Saban fail miserably in the League whilst having immense success in the College game?
I have the feeling that Aranda would rather get paid the same money to coach cream-of-the-crop players and recruit, than step up and have to fight salary caps and egos in the NFL.
MUCH, much easier to solidify lifelong financial stability and legendary coaching status if he remains at the College level.
