Smith should get around 5 passes thrown to him in week one. It won't happen but it should.

I've been saying for two years he could be lethal if we just knew how to use him.

When they actually throw to him its usually for about 20 yards a pop. Then we quit that nonsense for about 6-7 games.

2 wide I-formation (D is obviously ready for ISO run with LF) audible and put desean out wide making a LB cover him. Mismatch city. Mass confusion from the D. 1on1 coverage on Travin and Dupre.

Throwing to a TE is a novel concept at LSU.

He could be such a weapon but since he isn't 6'4 300 he has a limited role.

I was just looking at his recruiting profile last night..

DeSean Smith was nearly a top 100 player.

He had offers from every major school including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, OU, ND (who gets great tight ends), etc.. He was a 0.9420 composite.

He supposedly has a tremendous catch radius and great hands.

I'd have no idea though, because he's never in there.. From his old highlights he seems to make good catches over the middle in traffic.

If they actually play him, then actually thrown to him...its usually a very positive outcome. Which is why I dont understand why he's so underused

I compare it to this.....when hes in the D knows its probably a pass since Foster and Jeter are our run blocking TEs for the most part.

I mean hell look at desean, jacory, and pettigrew. All of them 6'5 and taller. Unless they have hands of bricks dont tell me you cant get more than 10 targets to them a year.

He's dealt with a lot of nagging injuries the last few years which is why he hasn't seen the field much. Never really been 100%.

When I went to the Rummel/Barbe (I believe) state championship game. I was told that Barbe (I believe) had a stud LSU commitment. After watching a few offensive plays, I commented to my buddy that he must be referencing the big TE (Smith). He said he was a LSU commit but Quinn was the supposedly one of the top WRs to come from La in some time.

I continued to watch the game and time and time again Smith stood out.

I know CSB.

Didn't we throw to the TE very successfully in bowl game vs Notre Dame?
People talk about Harris or OL/DL being the key to the season. Yes important but above all else, and really not close, is the offensive plays/play calling. Passes to TE, misdirection, screens etc; I know I know we've covered it but it's just so damn painful with 2 runs and then a bomb

I recently just realized that Smith is a SR.

Then I wondered where in the hell did his LSU career go?!?!

Here's HOPE that Cam realizes this is his last year and finds him over the middle to exploit a damn defense.

Smith has some of the best hands on the team regardless of position. They just refuse to either play him, or when they do, just don't get him the ball. He should absolutely be split wide in some formations, but that would require movement and ingenuity, something that this staff struggles with.

the fact that you think what he posted would always mea n a LB on the TE is what is laughable

You guys and your analysis

No idea what coverage the D is in, only tendencies.

I don't like Cameron, but he could write books, yall can't even color the pages

Cam Cameron's mo in the NFL was that he threw a lot to the RB'S and TE'S haven't seen this at LSU

Another indication that Miles controls the offense.
I know we have arguably the best RB tandem in the country and they should carry the load. But if we would use TE's and intermediate WR routes, we'd blow opponents minds....

Handoff, handoff, go route. Handoff, handoff, go route.
