With Peyton Manning retiring the SEC network is replaying some of his Tennessee college games. Yesterday they replayed the Vols-Auburn 1997 SEC title game in Atlanta. Dameyune Craig was the QB for Auburn.

Late in the game with Auburn backed up around their own 20 and facing a big third down while holding a slim lead, Auburn's left guard moved prematurely, costing them five yards. Before the big guard could get out of his stance, Craig slapped him angrily on the butt not once but twice really hard and then jumped up in the guy's face and chewed him out for about 10 seconds.

It was so emotional and intense that CBS showed several replays of Craig's reaction. Looks like LSU has a real leader with some intense fire to win. That's the type of leadership we need on offense. Hope he can light that type of fire under Harris.

He was a hell of a player. I hated him for all the right reasons!

I remember him being a crybaby and showing up his players and coaches anytime something didn't go his way.

Much Peyton Manning? Not comparing the two as QBs by any means, but Craig took over and dominated many games. Complaining, pissing and moaning happens. Maybe some more than others but it doesn't take away what an athlete accomplishes on the field. That's what I hated about Craig. He killed us. Whining or not.

This was one of the hardest up vote or downvote decisions I've ever had. Good job bro.

We were a third and two away from playing in that title game. Damn you Dinardo. Let's throw the ball when you have been ramming the ball down their throats all game. Craig lead Auburn to the comeback win in Tiger Stadium.

Agree. Cecil was unstoppable that game. Went for almost 250 if memory serves me right.

Trying to remember, but wasnt he the QB that ruined Cecil Collins' coming out party in that LSU-AU game?

Craig literally raised his hand as high as he could and smacked the big guy as hard as he could- several times. He was so angry. It was like he wanted the guy to take his helmet off so he could flatten him with a right to the jaw. I didn't like Auburn back then, either, but you don't see that type of aggressive leadership from a college quarterback too often these days.
