quote:Sure, but Beau Jordan was literally 2 steps off of the bag when the MS pitcher turned towards him on second three times in a row.
You hold the runner close at 2nd in the event of a base hit, a pitcher wants to reduce any runners lead by a step or two when you can to potentially prevent an additional base on a hit.
I kept hoping Beau would just stand on the bag and see if their pitcher would still make a move towards second base.

Yea I understand both sides. Who was batting at the time, sometimes it's done just to try and get the batter out of sync especially if you know it gets the batter very impatient. Or the pitcher didn't like the pitch call and he does this to reset the pitch. Most pitchers like controlling the tempo so at times they will do all sorts of things just so they mentally feel in control.

He did it to just about every batter. Honestly I almost didn't watch the game because it took him so long just to pitch the damn ball.

I think it was just an over exaggerated coaching technique used to make him stop doing something, like fumbling around with the ball. He probably practiced it so much that it became a part of his routine.
Its kind of like a leg kick. Some pitchers have higher leg kicks to force them to put all of their weight on their back foot so that they can get a maximum push off the rubber.
Try to explain pitcher Jon Gant's pitch though. Holy shite

Notice he only does it with runners on base.
Cause that's the only time a pitcher pitches from the stretch

Yeah Kimberl stance is actually cool. Hudson looks like he's still sore from the night before

I heard that it was suggested to him to try something to help him gain a mental edge because he was a bit wild from the stretch. This is what he settled on, aa: Kimbrel.
