Makes me wonder why when Dave was allowed to hire a defensive staffer, he went with Bill Busch to coach safeties. Maybe Busch was just more of a ‘proven commodity’ and I guess that was around Jones’ first or second year coaching in the NFL?

I like the hire though and am excited to see our defense play inspired football

Whatever the reason, next seasons D will have to be the opposite of last seasons D.

Without Busch we probably don't get Burrow
He was the main tie to our staff that got in with the family.
He served his purpose.

Most likely since Jones was in the NFL, he viewed that as the better situation to build is resume and develop himself as a Coach. So 5 years as an NFL DB coach from 2016 to 2020, after working with Dave in 2015 at Wisky and working with June Jones at Hawaii for several years (a coach with NFL HC experience), you get an opportunity to get the DC job at LSU (a top 5 DC job in CFB).

As long as his coaching recs are better than his recruiting recs.... Don't need the coaching equivalent of a Kendall McCallum when it comes to Aranda recs.

Well, except for the HUGE fact that Jones was unemployed when Aranda was hiring coaches

Aranda was hired on 1/16/20

Jones went to the Vikings on 1/29/20

I am not very confident or excited about the Jones hire. I think Ed O may have just trumpeted his swan song

For all we know Aranda was still pissed at Edos comments about him, so hes fricked him over with this recommendation

agreed, and I don't feel good about Peetz either. No OC experience, just Brady's good word.

Maybe both guys will work out, but both hires were underwhelming, especially for a power football school like LSU.

I would feel better if Baker is hired. Smart guy who can call a game. Jones needs that.

He called them for Bowie St. years ago. Baker called them for the U as late as last year. What do you think?
