Dale will lose some luster with the fanbase, but he's not gonna be shunned completely from the program.

It's disappointing as Hell, and I'm sure he and Wade won't mingle, but I have a hard time believing Dale will be kept from the building.

So, you are saying that this is a leak from inside the LSU program and is also false?

It would be the ultimate irony if Dale Brown was trying to harm the current staff by using (purported) information of NCAA violations as his leverage. That MFer spent his ENTIRE career at LSU flaunting the NCAA rules and antagonizing the NCAA until they were finally able to take him out on a relatively menial "crime" (ala Al Capone). In many respects Wade is the closet thing to Brown LSU has had SINCE Brown.

He was hired at LSU when he was 37 years old. Wade was 34. Brown took a program that had bottomed out and went on a virtual barnstorming tour throughout the state to increase interest. Wade did the same thing. While it took Brown longer to accomplish, BOTH started unexpectedly bringing in big time talent. One would think Brown would look at Wade and see visions of his younger self...a guy who, for a time, made LSU well know name in college basketball. But apparently, spite may have overcome the older man and he can't see that the current LSU coach is him...45 years ago.

I will say this though. The ONE thing that questions the credibility of innuendo that Brown is trying to "sabotage" the program is the fact that Shareef O'Neal is on the LSU basketball team. I think we all know just how close Shaq is with Dale. In fact, of all the coaches Shaq ever had I would venture to guess he is still closest with Dale. So if Brown truly was working against Wade, it would seem to reason that he would do everything he could to dissuade Shaq from encouraging his son to come here. Yet, O'Neal will suit up for Wade this season

Yep, that stands out to me too. A possible explanation is Shaq listened to Dale the first time and steered his son to UCLA under the guise of Shareef being his own person and making his own decisions. Then when UCLA didn't work out, Wade was the best option to get Shareef to the NBA (assuming Duke, UK, UNC, etc. weren't recruiting him). I don't know, that is a big inconsistency in Culotta's accusation.

I will say that someone who I consider close to the program told me Dale was the source the day Dick posted that Tweet before I read it here or anywhere else.

You could also say though that Shareef just didn't want to follow in his dad's footsteps, have everything he does measured based upon that. I know they're not the same type of player, but the accomplishments would be looked at the same.

Once the heart issues arose and things didn't work at UCLA, those comparisons start to subside quickly and here's Will Wade still recruiting you to come to your dad's alma mater despite what you've gone through and it seems an easier choice then

Yup. Dale Brown is being a hypocrite if he is, in fact, the source for the Vitale tweets. One of Brown's brushes with NCAA rules came back in the early '80s when his top assistant, Ron Abernathy, had a briefcase full of cash stolen from his car while on a 'recruiting trip' in Mississippi. Abernathy actually reported the theft to the local police. His explanation for having a briefcase full of money? He said he was out paying bills in Baton Rouge when he got called away on an emergency recruiting trip.

LSU was going to receive an NOA within 6 weeks. That has come and gone already. He also said that LSU had already received an NOA which was untrue. He hasn't been right about anything so far.

Dale is a selfish old bitter man that couldn't get it done on the court. He is clearly mad that Wade replaced his boy and actually won shite and was going to easily make dale the second best coach at LSU basketball

Dale is trying to reduce the competition for Shaq's son.
