He's certainly not a savior. I felt he was a bit overrated coming out of high school. He's not a great player, right now.

However, outside of Mickey and Martin (who both might not be here next year), LSU's front court is not very good. Him coming in and providing a little more talent and depth can only help this team going forward.

Deep and talented teams are the ones that win a lot of games in March. Victor has some talent and will add depth. It's a good day for LSU basketball.

Will he ever be a great player here? Almost assuredly not. He's not that kind of guy. But he will hopefully be a serviceable big guy for us.

He might be. He's not there right now, though.

I kind of like the following lineup:

PG: Lyle (6'5")
SG: Blakeney (6'4")
SF: TQ (6'6")
PF: Simmons (6'9")
PF: Victor (6'9")

We'd have Gray (6'1"), Hornsby (6'4"), Patterson (6'0"), Epps (6'9"), Bridgewater (6'5") and Robinson (7'1") as solid guys off the bench.

If this year is an indication, JJ might start Robinson at Center for 5 minutes with Victor at PF and Simmons at SF and bring TQ in as the first sub.

If he can't even make it onto the court at Arizona what makes people think he's going to be a major contributor here? By next year our talent gap with Arizona won't be widely different.

That's the point I'm getting at.

He'll provide us with depth and be a good backup guy, I think.

Hornsby is not giving up a spot to TQ. I see Gray, Blakeney, and Hornsby as our 3 guard rotation. Not going to count any eggs yet.

The talent gap in the post between LSU and Arizona is incredibly wide. LSU can compete in the backcourt, but we have no proven depth. Victor would start at PF on this team, and will get major minutes next year.

Who's to say he's done developing? By next year maybe his ability to access his full potential will be widely different too.

Who - Victor or Simmons? I've seen Victor listed mostly at 6'8" but listed as 6'9" in today's report.

I've seen Simmons listed anywhere from 6'8" to 6'10".

I see Hornsby giving up a spot to Blakeney and assume TQ will be coming in off the bench to replace Robinson with Simmons and Victor moving up.

This. Sean Miller has been loading up on high profile bigs every year he's been in Tuscon. Their entire starting frontocourt has 1st rd draft potential.
