I'm sure you'll have to buy the Tier 2 sports package which is an Extra $10 per month.

According to a lady who is from cox that was interviewed on 103.7 in Lafayette yesterday, the sec network will not be part of the sports package. It will be a part of the more common digital plus whatever package with espn espn 2 etc. It will also be offered in HD and non HD just like any digital plus channel

I get the Longhorn Network so I sure as hell hope that I don't have to pay more for the SEC Network.

Digital Essential Tier Required

quote:

Cox Communications announced today it has reached an agreement with ESPN to carry the SEC Network when it launches next month. Cox says the SEC Network will be available to its customers with the "digital essential tier" package, which is priced at $69.99 a month. Information on the exact channel positions will be announced soon. ESPN has also reached agreements with AT&T U-verse, DISH, Google Fiber and NRTC to distribute the SEC Network. Cox, ESPN and SEC officials all cheered the agreement reached today in prepared statements. "This is great news for alumni and fans across our footprint who will enjoy the action and rivalries that have become synonymous with LSU Tiger Athletics and SEC sports throughout the entire region," says Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and general manager of Cox's Southeast Region. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive says: "As one of the largest cable television distributors in the U.S., including five states in the SEC footprint, this agreement with Cox has a significant impact on exposure for the SEC." Even LSU football coach Les Miles chimed in via Twitter, saying: "Heard the news about our partner Cox signing on with SEC Network. This is great news! Looking forward to being part of the network." (Cox is an official sponsor of LSU Sports.) The SEC Network and its accompanying digital platform will air more than 1,000 live events in its first year, including at least 45 exclusive SEC football games, more than 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games, 75 baseball games, 50 softball games and events across all of the SEC's 21 sports. —Staff report

Per Matt Mascona's radio show yesterday the deal is pretty much done. They are just drawing up the paperwork. Expect an announcement real soon as far as Comcast goes.

OK I am happy for I am on comcast. But what I want to know and maybe it has been said here is will we see our team more because of this new network or less? I mean in all sports.

Will the SEC see to it that the teams they love more will get more time? Which would be an advantage for those who are on more for recruiting purposes. How will it work? How much money are we about to be squeezed for by the SEC?
