Cowboy Classic LSU vs TCU Aug 31st or Sept 7th?

1st weekend of college football is 8/31. Cowboy classic has been the first weekend.

On LSUsports.net it says the game against TCU is on the 7th.. but then again, it also says the venue is Tiger Stadium.. so I'm not so certain anymore.

For the last two years the game has been played on labor day weekend. Not sure about next year though.

It says the game on Sept 7th is scheduled in TS it's not referring to the date of the cowboy classic.

Where in the link does it say the classic will be played on the 7th? The original game scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge was set for the 7th. The Cowboy Classic is played on opening weekend which I'm assuming would be 8/31?

no way it won't be on labor day weekend. that's the whole point is to have it opening weekend.

The Chik-fil-a Kickoff game between Alabama and Virginia Tech is schedule for opening weekend, 8/31.. i would assume the Cowboy Stadium game will be the same

That link does not say a date the game will be played, only that the original game between the two was scheduled for the 7th in Baton Rouge. Like I said in another thread, you can book it Jerry Jones wants this played on the first weekend and is willing to pay both schools big money($4.5M each) to make it happen. Only TCU has a scheduling conflict with SELa scheduled for Aug31st. Rest assured they'll negotiate with SELa to flipflop the dates and get it done.

The wiki page for the Classic says 8/31..
it also says the Texas/UCLA game in 2014 is 9/13.. is there a late start to the season in 2014?

Nope, everyone is just under the false impression that the Cowboys Classic will always be the first weekend of the college football season, which I don't think Jerry Jones has ever said it to be. No doubt he wants it to start the year, but there's nothing in writing anywhere. FYI, UCLA plays at Virginia the first weekend of 2014.

Game has not officially been contracted. When thats done the game will move to the time/place for kickoff classic.
