Could it be possible Alleva is about to make a play for Bobby Hurley...

Probably just wishful thinking but I'm sure they have a lot of the same connections since both have Duke backgrounds. Come on Alleva, grow a spine and go get Hurley before he really blows up. Would be a splash hire!

Hurley will never blow up. He's not that good of a coach.

Pass.

I'm just going to be straight up honest with this one here. I have no faith in Alleva to hit that homerun splash hire and I'm not going to get my hopes up for it.

Hasn't Hurley only been a HC for 3 years? And ASU was pretty bad this year. I don't think this would be much of a splash.

It's funny hearing LSU fans say pass on Hurley. So maybe we can get Bill Self then. That more realistic? The only reason Johnny Jones is here now is because Alleva was turned down several times by other coaches. Nobody else wanted the job. Fans better temper their expectations for when the next coach is hired

Forget big time names, just give me someone who has great coaching skills, can build a program, and recruit.

That's ridiculous. I haven't seen anyone demand we get someone on the level of Self. At the same time, we'd likely have to overpay to lure Hurley away from ASU after one season. And again, they were bad.

I'm all for thinking out of the box, but I'm not sure Hurley is a wise gamble right now.

I guess, its 2016, so that stuff is more accepted. Wish we would have kept the gay woman's coach, actually....

No, he's not.

Just because a guy was a great player, doesn't mean that will transition to coaching.

Dude was lost in their NCAA Tournament game last season. He can likely recruit, but is nothing special in terms of actual coaching.

And with what we've been going through over the last few seasons with Johnny Jones, I'll take someone who is an excellent coach. That should be the priority.

Considering Capel was the HC at Oklahoma when they stole a recruit from LSU by paying him, not sure that would happen.

Isn't being capable of doing those three things what makes the big names...big?

That's kinda like saying, forget about the first round, just sign an undrafted free agent QB who throws no interceptions, 150 TDs per year, and can elevate the play of everyone around him.

I think Chris Mack would be a great hire

He's done great at Xavier, not sure of his current contract details but he'd be the first I'd make a run at

Let me guess, you're still waiting for Bill Parcells to come aboard as the "splash hire" for head football coach.
