With all the talent we have in the defensive backfield and losing #18 and #33, starting spots will be up for grabs. the talent level is deep.

Paris has the body to play S. He made the switch in bowl practice. Maybe he makes the switch this spring?

CB--Jackson, Fulton, Williams
CB--Toliver, Smith, Vincent, (Amik Robertson?)
NL--X Lewis, Fulton/Smith
FS--Battle, C Lewis, Delpit
SS--Paris, Monroe, Stevens

You would think so. He eerily reminds me of Craig Loston as far as potential, but not translating into a productive starter. Wasn't he a 5 star coming out of high school?

I recall him being a high 4*
I think part of the issue is our DB depth

So a guy that couldn't start over white, Thomas, Tolliver, or Jackson. Pretty sure he was rated higher than all of them but Tolliver.

He also was an EE. He's had a lot of time in the program. I've stated we aren't as good in the secondary. We are relying on guys to step up that couldn't supplant others that haven't set the world on fire.

Don't know what you're talking about, our defense was salty as frick last year. Can't knock a guy who wouldn't start over T. White and Jamal

His LSU career has been very strange. Guy with tons of potential just not able to usurp any of the other guys for a starting position.

Maybe, I thought Paris had potential, but he doesn't start and rarely even gets in the rotation. I never thought Gauge would play any significant snaps, but some think he will be a starter this year. Always figured Ed would get a shot at S, but he remained a CB.

Gage has made the switch to WR.

he was pretty set on playing corner when most of the recruiting pundits saw him more as a safety

Paris is pretty good, but I don't know if he is the best. We'll find out by next fall.

A lot of times, 5 stars have come in and have already reached most of their full potential. Where 3 stars come in, then after a couple of years of polishing up their skills, they end up having a higher ceiling than those 5 stars. So you never know.

Gage was a wideout then qb at redemptorist. He was an athlete. LSU tried to move him to corner then back to wideout.

From what I've seen X Lewis play. He looks lost on defense and he will be a special teams player for us and that is it.

Paris has the body to play FS, but probably not down in the box like a SS does sometimes.
But this could work out well for him. Even though Battle became the starter at FS following Rickey Jefferson's injury, the Depth Charts always listed him as the #2 behind Adams at SS. Dwayne Thomas and Xavier Lewis were the backups at FS, though Thomas played almost exclusively at Nickel.

Remember, T. White also practice and subsequently played at FS for the bowl game against Texas Tech. Then, of course, White moved back to CB, spending most of his time at Nickel.

Let me just say that I am routing for Ed Paris to become a star for the Tigers next season.

It would be a nice story to see Paris become a starter but it's not likely. Three years with no impact doesn't bode well for him
