Let's say Leonard Fournette is starting by week 4, could Darrell Williams beat out Terrence Magee and Kenny Hilliard? Seems like NOBODY talks about him or is at all excited about him

I love DW, but there is very little chance he passes up Magee. Hell I don't think he passes up Hilliard just because of practice reps.

I know it's not popular with RBs, but a RS wouldn't be the worst thing for DW. His time will come.

Williams will surprise a lot of fans with what he brings but McGee has too much experience and is a senior not to get a lot of carries this year.
That said, we are stacked a running back for the foreseeable future.

We need to only play three backs, #7, #14, and #27.

If one of these guys gets hurt, then we look to play #34.

No. No RS. We'll need 4 running backs this year. You need to keep Magee and Hilliard fresh and once Leonard catches on, you have to make sure he won't get hurt. Darrell Williams is a solid runner, he'll score a few TDs in his frosh season. He'll be overlooked by LF his entire career, but he'll play a crucial role.

to Darrell for having the chest to come here.

There's no way to control if LF gets hurt or not, well for the most part(good conditioning will help prevent some injuries).

And if LF is tearing defenses apart, the coaches won't hold him back in fear of an injury, that's not the way football is played.

Hillard will have a year similar to 11. He's healthy and busting his arse. HE'S the one being overlooked the most.

It will be Magee Hillard Fournette Williams. It will be a 4 headed dragon. History has shown us.

There is a way to control if he gets hurt. More carries = more chances of getting hurt. I said getting hurt instead of getting fatigued because he is still very young and has years ahead of him.

They HAVE to hold Leonard back. They can't use him as a workhorse and run his body into the ground, it's just not how things are run at LSU.

ETA: Hill was as close as we've had in awhile to having a pure RB1 work horse, and he still split considerable time with the 3 guys behind him. There's going to be a lot more distribution of carries this year and it will be vital to not only winning games but also preserving the careers of the players.

I hope you're right, love to see Hilliard have a solid year which would give him a shot at making some NFL$, but he has to come in in the best shape of his life and ready to make the most of his opportunities.

Otherwise, he's prolly first in line to be passed over on the RB depth chart.

This could be the most talented backfield we've had in 10 years. DW will be ALL-SEC next year.

There is a fine line between keeps backs fresh, versus not letting them get into a rhythm. I can't think of many ways to get 4 backs enough work into game plans, while keeping this balance (barring injury).

Eta: DW will get tons of touches in 2015.

He'll have to. We'll have two second year year backs and anywhere between 1-3 1st year back.

Yes. Fournette and Williams could very well by 1 and 2 by the end of SEC play.

I heard that Hilliard is down to 220 which is what he played at his junior year of HS. If he can maintain 220 pounds he'll be better than he was in 2011 and hopefully make himself some $ in the draft.

I never get this "rhythm" crap. Very few running backs actually do that, and it's only the great ones who get better as the game goes along. It's better to run 4 fresh guys than having 1 running back get beat to hell. I guarantee that a fresh back who hasn't gotten a snap will run better than one who has taken 20 carries and is in a "rhythm". When we play a multitude of fresh running backs, it wears down a defense. There's no need for rhythm.

0% chance Williams redshirts unless he gets injured. He will get plenty of carries this season.
