we still did win right? Given an ugly win or a hard fought, intense, beautiful loss, I will still take the win. Incidentally, NC is either a very good team, or they played way over their heads. I think it is both. We certainly did not open with a San Jose State or, dream of dreams, N Mexico. The loss didn't look as horrible to me this morning as it did last night; however, I am disappointed in some things that I thought would be corrected.

There is work to do. Who's the best player? Is he on the field? This foolishness with turn overs needs to stop. What needs to be done to correct it? Do we have a go-for-the-jugular mentality? What heppened to allow 400 passing yards? Why weren't we jamming the receivers? How can the posititves grow while the negatives disapppear?

For those of you who quote chapter and verse from the Bible, the King Saban version. Forget it. Saban is gone never to return. Would he have coached a different game? Absolutely! He would have won the game the same as we did, but his demeanor would have been of the take no prisoners mentality. I really don't think Miles is exactly like that, Yes, a revelation I know, but I don't know what he is like behind closed doors or in practice. I do not beleive he is a pushover, and I do believe he is humane when he needs to be. It really doesn't take much effort to trash someone and have them fear you. It does take a more deft touch to have them respect, and fear your authority, while getting players to change. Some of you on this board played and coached. You know which coaches you hated and admired, but I wouldbet that your admiration or contempt is not always shared by a teammate. Their personality brings different a interpretation.

Until he's not the coach, he is still the coach. He will have me cheering the same as I did for the other past coaches. I am a fan who wants to see us win; however, he has work to do. Those two for two hundred yard pass plays bear that out. We were very sharp up front, but our second game, called the second half, left much to be desired. That one fumble in the first series completely changed the mindset of NC. They thought they could win. When you think you can, or you think you can't. You are probably right. A TD, or even a three pointer, would have impacted their spirit. Follow that up with great defense for a three and out, and we look world class.

True to form, however, is how I thought this would play out. A win for them would be great, and a win for us, not so much. They had the typical win win scenario while we had the typical nothing to be gained from scenario. It's sort of like beating up a girl.

I am not happy with how things played out, and I want them changed. I will hope that Coach Miles will do that. There are plenty of things to build upon, but there is an equal amount that needs change.

The floor is now open for rebuttal.
