Because # 23 ATE on Saturday. He looked like Jamal Adams out there but from the LB spot. Holy crap, when Key gets back and They start running stunts and blitzes it's going to look like 2011 out there. Big Props to Corey - six years in the program - five surgeries later -like a BOSS.

He's a weapon against the pass.

I didn't expect him to be as good as he was. He was holding up his end of the line and playing good in coverage when called upon. Looked really fast and fluid. NFL scouts are going to drool over him.

Remember when he was behind Craig Loston on the depth chart at safety?

Yup. Not to mention, Chaisson will be a stud. I think he was a little overwhelmed with his first game... looked a lot like Key at the beginning... looking to engage on obvious passing downs instead of using his moves to get to the QB. Both sides of the ball were very vanilla from a scheme-perspective, but I like that there were very few busted schemes from the young guys on D.

I didn't want to say otherwise on here but the comparisons to Key were a little far-fetched. I thought that maybe Chaisson was picking up technique quickly and was making a ton of progress under O but it's obvious he won't be as good as Key was as a FR. He'll end up being great and he's probably a better athlete than Key but he doesn't have Key's natural feel for playing DE/OLB and his technique will need work before he becomes a consistent pass rush threat.

That's crazy that he was on the team the same time Loston was... seems like that was ages ago

Corey Thompson was Landon Collins replacement

LC has been in the NFL for what? 3 years now

And CT is still at LSU

Feels like I remember him backing up Craig Steltz! That guy has been here forever... not that I mind.

We haven't really started to blitz. That was a vanilla defense compared to how multiple we actually can be. Delpit can blitz, Paris, Taylor, Phillips, Key, Chassion, Thompson, Anthony, Thornton, Jackson, Lewis, and White. We can literally come from anywhere at anytime with as much success.

I said a while back that Thompson would be our best pass rusher opposite Key. He's very quick, knows his football, and is now strong enough to take these hits. I like how multiple we are this year. It's going to be a nightmare for opposing QBs. Love it

I was drinking and watching with a crowd of folks on Saturday. Hard to keep track of individual guys. How did Chaisson look? I think I remember him on a tackle and he got pressure on the QB at least once

He held his own against some solid players. Plugged up lanes well and stuck to his assignment.

It was so great to see Corey have such an impressive game, as he has really endured, despite some tough injuries.

Glad he's healthy this year after Les injured him, Lacouture, and Fournette last year in fall camp

It seems like every year we have an LB who we aren’t sure about who takes a big step forward and surprises everyone. Looks like it’s Thompson’s turn.
