Better deal than Texas, Penn State, and A&M

Well, Penn State had to pay Franklin a lot because otherwise, who would go to Penn State after...well, you know... They've been on probation too and have had to deal with the loss of a lot of scholarships.

Sumlin took over a team that went 25-25 in a worse conference than the SEC in the four years leading up to when he took it over. Sumlin is 36-15 while playing in the SEC. He has won the same exact amount of games that Miles has over the last four years, but he has had a top 5 finish with 11 wins, he has beaten #1 Bama at Bama and he is 3-0 in his bowls. Johnny helped him, but he assembled a good team and has had some good results compared to what he took over. He's overpaid, but they have been considerably better than what they were before he arrived.

Texas just sucks. We have a better deal than them for sure.

If Alleva and Alexander had the balls to fire Les unconditionally and go after an up-and-comer like Herman if Jimbo said no, we likely would have been paying less and getting a whole lot more.

Are you sure we'd be getting more? Where does that sureness come from?

So he had a monster year at Houston, all things being equal isn't he a worse prospect for a major head coaching job than Sumlin was a few years back?

Herman's UH team this year, that everyone is so excited about, looks a lot like the Sumlin teams that got him the A&M job and $5 Mil. A&M is now UH West and has not performed up to expectations. With Herman, we might well become UH East! I, for one, would not be very happy with this.

I'm shocked too. Thought ND was paying way more than that.
