On some level it's like playing baseball in the rain: You don't learn anything. You survive and get to the next game.

Great article (as all articles from you) but this thought is a little understated (with exception to baseball)

Bad weather conditions is a great equalizer to even the best of teams.

But they did learn something.....how to play in the rain

What, are we going to have to see them sprint side by side at halftime of the Chick-fil-A Bowl to find out?

north end score board is fantastic.

Meh. Great picture quality, too many logo blocks-not even enough space to show timeouts left?

Did you guys (that were left) notice the loss of pixels for much of the second half? I told the guys around me that we must not have installed our GFCI per code.

Well, I did say on some level, not all! (but you're right to say they learned about playing in the rain)

My context for the "you don't learn anything" comment was probably as clear as I thought. I was referring to the overall theme of what we learn about a team from a particular game, and the paragraph you quoted was specifically about baseball. That is where the "on some level" part applies. No doubt the team and coaches learned some wet-football realities.

Speaking of rain ... man, it's pouring right now in Baton Rouge. Pouring.

Oh, I forgot there was a Yoda fan onboard. Perhaps your sidesaddle was working on my subconscious:

Great name, by the way!

He constantly lives up to it. He even made fun of me for having colon cancer....

Great article, Carl. Do you prefer being in the pressbox or watching the game on TV?

Most concerning point you made: "There are big holes being ripped through LSU's defensive line in the running game."

A big concern vs UGA, Florida. Vandy's backs couldn't break it to the house... Florida's will if we don't shore it up.

Dude, just face reality. Florida is going to demolish us and everyone knows it. We don't have much of a chance. That's nothing against how "bad" everyone is saying LSU is, it's just a recognition of how GOOD Florida is.

I think our defense needs some help but hey, Vandy only had 210 yards of offense last night and that sure is a bright spot to me.

I think our offense is only going to get better. They showed a lot of potential in the first half before it really started raining. I have faith that they can pull it together and have a much better year than last year.

I was at the game last night and whenever Vandy "broke" a play, I was throwing my hands up in dismay just like everyone else. When I left I thought they must have had something close to 350 to 400 yards of offense and was pleasantly surprised when that was not the case. However, much of that was due to rain and mishandling of balls and "slippage".

I do agree some defensive issues need to be addressed but I think our players are getting the hang of it. All I can say is that I have noticed an ENORMOUS improvement in our LBs. I have really been impressed with their play. Maybe Chavis' scheme hasn't taken hold yet but that's fine with me if our LBs keep playing like they have been.

Since we're correcting grammer here, how about we not slip up on our spelling.

Heck, ESPN can't decide who is the fastest player in college football. Last night it was LSU's Trindon Holliday. The week before, it was some guy at Clemson. What, are we going to have to see them sprint side by side at halftime of the Chick-fil-A Bowl to find out?

Great post Carl!

BTW, the "But I Digrass" wasn't an error in spelling meauxjeaux, but a play on workd regarding the turf at Tiger Stadium. Mr. Dubois is to smart for that kind of error.
