Colin Cowherd's take on the LSU/Ore game

Colin Cowherd on todays show....
"Oregon LSU is a very very interesting game. LSU is missing their Quarterback & a star receiver. Oregon is missing their best player defensively, Cliff Harris. All that said, it is hard for me to not like the SEC team in this instance. I would make an argument, that take away Pete Carroll's USC teams, when they won 34 straight, in the last decade, there's not been a program that has been better in big games than LSU. They are 5-1 in their last bowl games, and the average score is about 35-20. And that's against elite bowl teams. In these out of conference opening games, North Carolina, Va Tech, Arizona St, Arizona, they have crushed these teams. They are an absolute step-up program, better in big games. Oregon's the opposite. They have been unbelievable in the regular season, but not been good in the step-up games. The Boise St TV game, the Auburn game, & the Ohio St game. In all 3 games, when Oregon faces NFL bodies up front, big powerful physical teams, that offense shrinks, fast. And I think LSUs front 7 is better than Auburns front 7 last year. LSU is loaded, 2 deep, all across the defensive line. More speed than Auburn had last year. Auburn's defense wasn't great last year, Nick Fairley was great, but their defense wasn't great. I think LSU is your classic SEC team who is OK at QB & stupendous defensively up front. And even though LSU loses it's starting QB, they bring in a 22, 23 year old Senior that will manage the game. I just think what we'll see is what we see with Oregon when they play the Ohio States & Auburns, is this offense works in the PAC-10, it works when you don't have a lot of time to prepare for it, but when you get 3 or 4 weeks to look at this offense, and you figure out that it's just assignment football, you've got the athletes to stop their athletes, the offense shrinks, so I'm gonna go with LSU in this game".
Colin went on to say that if Oregon wins, they have a good shot at the National Championship because they don't play anybody. If they lose to LSU, they are out. He said, if LSU loses, they can still rattle off 12 wins and be in New Orleans.

Shouldn't this read "potential star receiver."

When it was first announced that JJ was out for this game, Colin went on to say (and I am doing my best at quoting him)..."I had officially picked LSU for this game, but I am now OFFICIALLY changing my pick to Oregon."
or something along those lines.
3 days later and he has changed his mind again.

Hey Quack, how about a little duck gumbeaux for dinner tomorrow night. Know a good place in Arlington, TX for it. I'll even buy.

All good points!!!! Oregon sucks! LSU doesn't!

Actually he did. He also said they had a softer schedule than LSU as well. But he definitely also said "They don't really play anyone after LSU".
The only thing that worries me about the game is Lee. Don't get me wrong, I think he will have great stats. He has the capability to lead the team down the field at will....but there is always that ONE INT at a critical point in a drive that he's be known to throw. If he can avoid that, LSU will be fine.

No, I can't type worth a crap. I used a DVR to stop & start.
BTW Quack, & I'm now quoteing Cowherd, he said Oregon "plays alot of average teams on the road, & a couple of good teams at home". Read into it what you want. I was just repeating what CC said.
Don't Hate!

Colin is a NW boy but from Washington. I think at one time he lived in Portland. He usually rallys behind Oregon. not a bad observation imo

No, actually he sad he had picked LSU but now he was "taking the game off the board" until he could get a better feel. Colin has been a big LSU supporter for a while now.
