Faced with the prospect of having to foot the bill to buy and distribute more than 90,000 barf bags at Saturday's upcoming LSU football game in Tiger Stadium against Missouri, the powers-that-be decided it would be just as cost effective to fire head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron Sunday afternoon, and elevate defensive line coach Ed Oregeon as interim head coach.

quote:

The Double-A boys completed what they stopped last November, not only by firing Miles but completing the daily double by firing Cameron.

Yes, Botch Cassidy and The Somedunce Kid, architects of a Tiger offense that hasn't scored a point in a fourth quarter since last December's Texas Bowl, were shown the door.

Forgive my 1960s and '70s references, but the reason Miles and Cameron are no longer employed is they took most of their offensive plays from those decades.

quote:

Tigers' athletic director Joe Alleva, who smugly told the media last year after Alexander bailed on firing Miles that he always "waits until the season is over to evaluate," decided he'd seen enough this time and likely heard enough from LSU's big-money boosters.

quote:

But after LSU's same ol' same ol' offense laid a rotten egg in the No. 5-ranked Tigers' season-opening 16-14 loss to Wisconsin, the national media suddenly saw what had been apparent in Baton Rouge since LSU's unexplainable 21-0 loss to Alabama in the 2011 BCS national championship game.

They've seen the rest of college football makeover their offenses to uptempo attacks that don't take what the defense gives them, they just take what they want.

Meanwhile, LSU, which somehow continued to attract amazing talent, is still wearing an offensive zoot suit.

And when you asked Miles about any possible offensive changes or just about anything for that matter, his answers were so confusing it probably caused brain tumors for professional stenographers.

For instance, here's one last gem from Miles from Saturday's postgame when asked if All-American running back Leonard Fournette was playing hurt: "I am not knowingly playing him at disadvantage to him in any way."

When word broke with a couple of weeks left in the regular season last year that Miles' job was on shaky ground, the national media lambasted the LSU administration.

The general national media take: "How could they fire Les Miles? You can't find a coach just because he's lost five straight times to Alabama. He's such a funny guy, such a good man. Go ahead and fire him, but be careful watch you wish for."

Rabalais was vilified for reporting what he was told last year which was factual. He was doing his job. LSU erred greatly last year in getting cold feet. Les should have been gone last year. Higgins, like most sane observers, knew this.

While I'll don't like Higgins style, there is nothing in that article that is incorrect. To be honest, his articles all year have been "on point" about Miles and Les' obstinate mindset.

Awful article. Just not good or funny. Whoever wrote it should be sent packing with Cam and Les. Just terrible.
