Why wasn't Coach O giving the defensive cd job here instead of steele?

Not sure, but I am not ready to give up on Steele. Not yet.

At this point, most solutions, including this one, would've been better than Steele.

Yeah, just a head coach. At two different schools. With a defensive background. So yeah.

Again, zone schemes are tough to learn in the first season. Let's give him a chance.

I just said this in another thread, but when Mark Stoops first got to FSU they had the same troubles implementing the zone scheme, giving up huge plays. The next season, they were one of the best in the country.

No team should run man 100% of the time.

LSU doesn't run zone 100% of the time.

Our problems in the secondary have been busts. But, our secondary hasn't been the problem in our two losses. It's the front 7. In particular, our DEs and OLBs aren't able to contain the running game.

Exactly. It's like they want the FSU defense of the 90's. Newsflash: that shite doesn't work all the time anymore.

Let's hope that happens.. But I haven't seen the whole team look clueless; certain units in different years, but not the whole team.

Yeah, it's tough. In a zone scheme, everyone has to work together. It's hard. And, most importantly, you need a very talented defensive line to make the zone work.

The D line recruits they are after this year are beyond crucial.

Im not giving up on Steele and don't see a reason to.

He's working with Chavis's players and although we have elite DB's, K.Steele wants to run a 3-4 base. He, along with Coach O, are recruiting an elite defensive class which consists of those big, run stoppers who fit into that 3-4 scheme.

Steele isn't getting the job done this year and I agree with that.

But Im curious to see what he can do when he implements the defense he wants to run along with the players to go along with it.

THEN, if he can't get it done.. I see a reason for a new hire. But until then, we have more problems on the offensive side of the ball that need to be fixed ASAP.

I completely agree. We really need to finish strong in the rankings.

It's not just the newly implemented zone coverages though. Defensive line alignments, blitz packages, formations, etc. The defense looks completely different under Steele and O. It looks just as complicated as Saban's.

Miles will not take a chance on someone who hasn't been in the position before. That's why we don't get up and coming coordinators. We get older burnouts that were decent at some point in time in the past decade. Except for BDP, that's a goddman mystery.

So I guess that means it's proven he can run a defense at every level? Alright then fire Steele hire eddy O.
