just read on Dandy Don Miles would get a 2.7 million dollar bump in BASE PAY if he wins the natty. that would put his base higher than Saban's and the highest in the nation (I think).

the world must wonder how LSU could put that in his contract. imo, a very large bonus and a decent raise should be sufficient. Miles' agent must have pics of Alleva

I'm sure he's had language in his contract the whole time that would make him the highest paid coach if he wins a title. It's a pretty common clause.

For all the bitching and moaning about Les Miles being overpaid, he has not cashed in on the recent college football head coach salary explosion.

ETA: LINK

Here's the list of coaching salaries from last year. Look at the top 10, half of those coaches haven't even played for a conference championship, let alone won a national title.

The playoff has benefitted coaching raises through wins alone. This isn't an uncommon practice with incentive based raises in coaching contracts.

this attitude is the reason why coach salaries are out of control. common sense is a goner (not just at LSU).

this kind of provision invites a coach to go complacent after the ship and say "fire me". why in the hell wouldn't a one time bonus, let's say 2.5 mil and a raise of a mil per annum get the job done.

If he wins a NC this year, give him the money, a statue, and a job for life if he wants it.

Well he only gets it "IF" he wins the National Title. "IF" he does that then why would we have a problem shelling out the money?

But...but...but...then how could FKA keep up his "LSU is broke" narrative?

One has to wonder what FKA's buy out would be should he get fired.
