Having seen the utube of spurrier cutting out a reporter over lies written. Coach Miles should do that to Guilbeau because he always points LSU in negative when he can.

So just cut the sob out. He is going to be negative anyway.

Never giving the reporter the satisfaction of commenting on anything they write is the way to go, IMO. Spurrier was punked. You gotta let that stuff roll off your back.

First of all no Les should not act that way even if GG did what SOS says the writer in South Carolina did. It's classless.

Second SOS said he, while he doesn't like it understands that press will write negative pieces. He has a problem with this specific writer because he wrote what SOS claims is a lie, namely that he undermined the basketball program and the HC of the basketball team by recruiting a kid playing for and under schollie for the basketball program to play for him and abandon basketball.

Like GG or not no one has ever accused him of printing lies about Les or LSU.

Finally I think many on here fundamentally misunderstand the role of the press and coverage of LSU. Even with the decline of print journalism and the use of wire services for game recaps and such many papers still have beat writers who cover the day to day stuff and press conferences, practices if/when open to press.

For the most part it is straight reporting and very few if any take issue with what is reported.

Columnists by contrast are hired by news outlets to provide their opinion on Les, LSU sports etc. They were not hired to regurgitate LSU press releases or parrot Bonnette's statements. They don't work for LSU and are not paid propaganda machines for the LSU Athletic Department.

They are paid to give their opinion, good or bad, positive or negative. It's their opinion they are hired to provide.

Some papers now use the same writers for both purposes but for less brain dead among us we can recognize what is straight reporting and what is an opinion piece. And are able place each in the proper place of importance.

When I read GG which is not often, many times I disagree with his opinion. But c'est la vie.

It's just his opinion. He is not out to get Les or LSU. He just has stupid opinions much of the time.

I doubt it will make a difference among those who have already made up their minds, but well f*cking said.

Guilbeau writes some things for shock value and page views that I think he could do without, but that's his thing. he likes to come off as the jackass of the LSU beat writers.

he's actually been pretty positive about the program (and Les) the last few yrs though. just gotta sift thru the jackassery to see it sometimes.

My problem with the vast majority of the "Gilbeau Sucks"-"Guilbleaux"-"Gilbeau is a Douche" crowd is they seem to only want to read stuff that is overly-saccharine pro-LSU fluff.

That sh*t exists. Written by a regular contributor to this website. And it's awful.

It's called, "Little Dick Syndrome"

Little dicks hate big dicks, so they denigrate the big dicks, which, in effect, makes them a bigger dick.

I think in GG's current state, he has achieved the status of biggest dick around. Any disagreement with that assessment?

Will you people stop with the Guilbeau shite? My God, you have obviously never read a big-city newspaper where writers really go after coaches and organizations. Guilbeau writes as much or more sunshine-pumping stuff as most beat writers. Just because he throws in some truth occasionally doesn't make him a "hack."

Interesting theory. Who covers LSU football on a consistent basis? The Advocate's guys (Rabalais, East, Kleinpeter, Feig, Spradling), Rosetta, Varney, Finney and GG. Did I miss someone?

GG seems to be the most prolific. And it may pain people to hear this, but he tends to be the most objective. Definitely plays devil's advocate more than the others.

Can we ban anyone from talking about Guilbeau on here? All he wants is attention and people to talk about his articles. You're giving him what he wants. Ignore him.

Why do you think every reporter has to avoid saying negative things about LSU?

That ten page rag? The Shreveport Times and big-city newspaper DO NOT belong in the same sentence!

Thank you for the commentary, Mrs. Guilbeau.

Using Spurrier as a verb contorted my eyes. Don't do it again

Never forget that DipShite spewing the "winning with NeedleDicks's players" BS a few years ago.
He has become a bit more tolerable as of late.

At this stage, I don't think Gil-blow is near to the point that guy in SC was.

I do think that GG and Jacques Doucet both try to insert themselves into their reportage and want to be "celebrities" instead of reporters.

Guilbeau is the only truly objective journalist covering LSU. The rest are lap dogs...

Wonder if you will still feel this way when Spurrier is forced to issue an apology.
