That's for sure. He has a high paying job in a field that's volatile and he knows how the keep that job.

it's become painfully obvious that he coaches for the 8-10 wins a year and he has found the equation to do so......ground and pound.

The season is now meaningless without question. It is obvious that Jennings is not the QB answer long term. If miles does not play Harris to see what he has and see if he can show signs of improvement than it will prove that he is coaching more for the 8-10 wins than coaching for championships.

If Harris doesn't see the field the rest of the way or only in junk duty he would be wise to transfer IMO.

As for me, if Miles doesn't play Harris, I. Will be done with LSU football as long as he is the coach. It's the only way to show the administration that fans aren't satisfied with mediocrity.

I like Miles as a person and a rep for LSU but his stubbornness is killing the program IMO

Wrong. Individually we are at least as smart. Collectively we are the best coach in the league.

He is meeting his bosses expectations. Has been in the hunt for an SEC West title since his last raise/extension. He met it again this year. Box checked. Anything above is gravy.

If this turns out to be true, it's exactly why they won't get any more of my money.

Most of your post is pretty cynical, but I want to zoom in on this piece. I've often wondered if Miles has a formula like Billy Bean and Sabermetrics that says "if you do x, y, and z, you'll average this number of wins". It's apparent that he's pretty resistant to change, risk averse, and not comfortable with the idea of swings (i.e. he'd rather two 9-3 seasons than a 12-0 followed by a 6-6). I don't think he does it because he's lazy and just cares about the check, I think he sees it as the best way to stay close enough that he'll get into the big game with a little good fortune. I actually think it's worthy of discussion. His record for wins is as good as anyone's, and he isn't the kind of coach to let a team melt down or fall apart (as we've seen this year). But he isn't going to do anything radical that violates his philosophy. Not unlike Saban in that regard. You can see his discomfort with Kiffin's offense, even when they're winning. He doesn't like it. It violates some football principle of his.

So he has one loss, and Jennings has two.

That's some asinine logic if there ever was any. He's not smarter than I am; that much is certain. I'm not willing to waste my life on a game. Let us wait until the next life to determine who was the smartest in this one.

Someone has to have two.

ETA: Only one loss in regulation

Wrong

In 2011 MNC Saban re invented his teams identity that lost to LSU 9-6 into a throwing team that won 21-0
Miles did not change

The Jefferson Lee fiasco. Mett the future, riding the bench his first year. Miles is doing it all over again. So it seems

I get the point about Harris' s performance at Auburn. But I also remember Jennings 3 turnover 1st quarter at home against Sam Houston St....so how does Harris's bad game at Auburn ( which was a whole lot to ask of him for a first start) completely take his shot away. I see no way Jennings could have done any better. And I like Miles, but it seems to me that he gave Jennings a easier road to earn the job.

100% true. Find the interview of Joe Alleva discussing the extension/raise he gave Miles when he bluffed Alleva on the Arkansas interest. He stated fir a fact that "it is not about winning championships but being in the hunt for them that matters".

In fairness your level of football knowledge is probably like mine and just a smidge short of the guy making 4MM, so I will revert to his judgement.

Mett had an easier job to earn it last year over Jennings? What's your point. Their is always an heir apparent to a QB job.

Again, Saban seems a little more willing to change things up, but you can still see his discomfort. He has a philosophy that he holds dearly. He wears it on his face.

And I still can't believe how that douche McCarron came out looking like Joe Montana in that game.
