CJJ coaching style question?

I didn’t follow LSU in the Skip era. Did for most of the CPM era. He appeared to be very hard nosed in your face type coach. When things weren’t going well he got on the guys, which I think is needed. Is CJJ too passive and or nice to these guys?
I’m a CJJ fan, don’t get me wrong. Just thinking he’s not getting through to this group for whatever reason….
