Chip Kelly comment after game

When asked how they turned things around in the second half of their bowl game he says-" We just stopped running the same stubborn offense in the second half". -- Think Miles could get these words out of his mouth?

LSU didn't run the ball up the gut over and over like last year. Now people want to go back to it.

Miles pasted Kelly. Lets hire Muschamp, or pelinni. Miles rocks - we are damn lucky to have him. Kelly will like follow Carrol's path.

Didn't Miles out coach Kelly last year?
Or does the rant just think talent alone won that game?

Wonder what Chip had to say last year as Les was kicking his arse in Texas.

Where did he out coach him? Did Miles gameplan for Oregon to have 4 or 5 turnovers and give up a special teams TD?

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but once you beat a coach once you remain forever better than them and they can never beat you again. That's why blowing out Florida last year was so important, it meant that Muschamp would never be able to beat Miles.

The Les offense worn down the Chip defense.

I don't understand why any fan of LSU football would try to discount our win against Oregon. I agree with Groupee. In the second half of the game, it was the Ducks that was worn out.

Sure, it was an impressive win, though the +3 turnover margin, including one scoop and score, had a lot to do with it, coupled with Brad Wing going HAM on punts. But yes, it was a complete win. I'm still not sure how a single data point proves that Les Miles is always and forever the superior coach.
Kelly has had a more impressive run the past 4 years than Miles, and one head to head result doesn't change that.

You put a balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Do you know what a balm does?

Think Les could get these thoughts in his brain?
Nope

Yes.
We had a completely different offense this year compared to 2011. We played a game where we tried to throw the ball 60% of the time and we got beat. If we had stayed with the stubborn run only offense we probably beat Clemson by double digits.

You know there's a lot more to an offense than a binary choice between "call pass" and "call run" right?

So here we go, Miles coaching ability had nothing to do with the Oregon game last year. Got it. Our team was just so fricken amazing that the very first game of the year with a QB who hadn't been the starter all off-season just magically hangs 30+ points in a top 4 match-up......

You can't look at the turnover margin of that game and label it an outlier. LSU's defense is an opportunistic one. It was designed to let players play a little undisciplined and to roam around with the expectation that they will get turnovers. It is not like Bama's defense which is more about discipline and more lock down.
I don't know who said that Miles is forever superior to Kelly but as far as accomplishments go, Miles has a more impressive resume. He has a national championship ring and a very good winning percentage against much stiffer competition.

Turnover margin is incredibly volatile year to year and has much less to do with coaching than with individual players and sheer luck.
Over the past 4 years (since chavis started) we've had TO margins of 16, 20, 8, and 4. Going back further we had 20 again in 2007, but -1 in 2008. Compounding that is that an opportunistic defense can cause interceptions but it's basically impossible to reliably cause fumbles OR to reliably recover fumbles but LSU caused and recovered 3 fumbles against Oregon. It was a combination of a ball hawking defense, particularly Matheiu, Oregon playing a freshman in his first game ever, and just plain bad luck for Oregon. But if it was really a coachable trait to cause and recover fumbles the numbers would be a lot more consistent year over year.
Miles has also been coaching for about 3 times as long as Kelly and came into a program that had JUST won a national championship. When Kelly started at Oregon their last Rose Bowl win was 1917 and their last Rose bowl appearance was 1995. Since getting to Oregon they have gone to 4 BCS bowls in a row, won the Rose bowl, competed in another Rose bowl, played for a national championship, and have a combined record of 46-7. That's REALLY fricking impressive no matter how much you try to pull the "SEC is too tough and blah blah" bullshite.
