- Ole Piss with a piss poor offensive line
- Arden Key in a 3 point stance as a rusher (weight down to 250)
-the Rebels have allowed more sacks (16) than all but 12 teams that have played six or fewer games.

Looking forward to seeing lots of QB pressure in the backfield from this group. Key is in the Cheetah package in this photo from Auburn game.

On paper, LSU should be able to play man coverage and unleash hell with the down linemen and LBs. But then again, we were supposed to dominate Troy...

Is that the position Key got the game ending sack and late hit from?

Gary D. definitely said that during the broadcast.

I'd prefer we call our light and speed package, the shadowy tiger.

Sure did.

We'll see if we can go man coverage early on I think. If we can OM is in trouble.

On one play....that they showed a replay of and pointed it out.

Don't act like you saw every time he was in the position and you know he got blown up every other time.

All that is is Key playing DT. That's all.

Can't be a cheetah in confined spaces, FYI

FIFY

He is best used when he is standing as an outside linebacker. Gets more speed of the snap then, than he ever does in a 3-point stance

I'd play man under with a safety. I'd try and contain Patterson, and do much as we did to Manzell.

Sacks aren't the big stat here, tight coverage with no big plays is the key.

Agree. I haven't watched much of Ole Miss this year but I know Patterson is legit and apparently he likes to move around more than I thought. I'd guess he's easily the best QB LSU will face all year (better passer than Dungey). We definitely have the secondary to match up with them though so it's kind of strength on strength. Sounds like we will be able to run the ball and keep their offense off the field hopefully.

Best way to fill rush lanes it to rush 6. I'd bring it till they beat it.

no argument there. Just don't let them steer you and realize upfield = behind the runner and let Patterson make mistakes.

This. The package sounds good in theory, but I don't know if it delivers the result sought.

Key is a 4-3 DE who is at his absolute best with his hand in the dirt rushing from the edge. I think his talent is wasted by sticking him in traffic at DT or putting him out in coverage as an OLB.

Chassion hasn't lived up to the hype. That's not a knock on him. It's more of a testament that he was probably over-hyped based upon his UA High School performance. With the "Cheetah" package you are essentially allowing your best edge pass rusher to be washed out inside and replacing him with a true freshman who hasn't developed into a great pass rusher yet.

To me, LSU's best pass rushing front is Thompson, Lacatoure, Lawrence, Key in a 4-3 or nickle look. Key didn't get 12 sacks last year by playing him in space. Let him line up on the edge and go get the QB. When right, he's better than 95% of the OT's he'll face

Not arguing, but just want to point out that Chaisson just hasn't played enough football. In the MSU game you could tell he knew most of the assignments, but just didn't get in the proper position. Going against RPO was just too much for someone who hadn't had years of the basics.

Agreed. Especially with Lawrence. They'll have to double him alot, and in that nickel they can disguise both blitzs and spys (which can be delayed blitzs) most of the time.

Everybody knows it, especially when they are moving Key around for matchups. So I get a special sort of glee when they show the blitz from that just to get protection changes, which takes away some of those double teams/RB-chips off of Key... or pressure up the middle. It's awesome to see a RB run towards Thompson only to be left with his finger up his arse blocking no one while Key wraps him up. I can almost hear both Thompson and Aranda laughing in the stands.
