SIAP but after watching the replay I must say, Chase Clement was an absolute blocking machine last night.

Yes, glad someone else saw this. I know the coaches will be singing his praises in the film room

No much to the chagrin of a guy sitting behind me who was yelling "throw to the GD tight end nearly every time we broke huddle."

Just so you guys know coaches don't call pass plays for certain guys except in the case of a fade. A coach calls a route combination with different routes designed to take advantage of different coverages. Coverage dictates where the ball goes. No coach calls down to the QB, "Seam route to the TE". Now if the TE is running a seam route and the defense is in cover 3 then yea it's going to the TE.

i think you are wrong here. if out TE against their LB is a good matchup for us, a coach will most definitely call a play that isolates a TE on a LB.

His blocking was tremendous but I really wish he'd quit jumping early.

I can think of 3 separate times where he jumped early and we got flagged for it. (Not dumping on the guy by any means).

An offensive coach cannot isolate a TE on a LB without the coverage creating that matchup. Now an offensive coach can see that against certain formations or motions our TE gets matched up against their LB in man to man but the offensive coach doesn't dictate how the defense defends a play. Again if the defensive coverage dictates man to man and we have a mismatch the ball goes that way.

It seems that they often cover him witha WR on the line making him in eligible. Has anyone noticed that! If so the defense doesn't have to concern the self with him in coverage, ESP in M2M.

they without a doubt do. Go watch soundfx from Saints - Chargers last week then go watch Brees' post game press conference

Just because you don't throw to the #1 receiver doesn't mean that the play isn't designed to have a #1 receiver

If the pass isn't going to Jacobs, we should never throw to the tight end. Clement has hands of stone.
