I’ve been watching BB for over 40 years, I have never seen so many charging fouls called in the college game, LSU and other teams included this year.

I got a good chuckle last weekend vs Arkansas when Jay Billis says “ must be a charging fouls since someone fell down” . So even the announcer dudes are noticing.

Wonder why emphasis on this call?

It’s weird, because in many cases the call should have been on the defender. The first one LSU got tonight, the defender stepped into it. He didn’t have position established when the contact occurred.

Honestly, there was a charge on UT late in the second half, that looked like a blocking foul on Gaines. His feet were never completely set. They definitely have been calling more charges this season.

Half the “moving screens” Reid gets called for are a joke

There is no such thing as good defensive position in college basketball. They are just getting them ready for the NBA. By the time the move up, they won’t play defense.

Because the theatrical refs love the animation of calling the charge and want it to be about them when it should be about the players.

Disagree. Reid, Tari, & others set the crapiest screens by never really getting set and close enough to a defender. But if you are moving when contact occurs it is an offensive foul. Def need to do a better job of that because the refs are so bad they are going to miss lots of other calls that hurt us every game. Don't need to screw up the easy things.

They are calling charging even when the defender is down in the box.

Refs and poor officiating have turned me off to pro BBall and have now done the same to the college game.

Sounds like the SEC refs need training to understand how to do their jobs.

It’s getting to the point that they should use instant replay on all calls (I know that’s not gonna happen, would be a hell of a long game)or just call it a jump ball. Refs are not getting any better these days!
