Am I the only one hoping Saban announces his retirement in the coming days/weeks? What more can motivate the man? I'm just ready for us to get back on that level and for the Gump's dynasty to crumble.

it's really not fun

he should embrace a new challenge or retire.. let someone else have a chance.

it's a good time. just won.. several key coaches gone, several departures on defense.. come on Saban, give someone else a chance..

For him, being a winner has always trumped being challenged. He was challenged in the NFL and we saw how long that lasted.

That's kind of where my head's at. Only thing I see that motivates him is his ego and wanting to break Bear Bryant's NC record.

Honestly while I want that to happen there is no way. With his personality I can't see him just retiring. To do what? Relax? Saban doesn't know how to relax.

I think it is wishful thinking mostly. He now has a chance to go on and try to equal Bear Bryant's record of 6 NC, and even beyond to beat the record.
Saban is a very driven coach, and when he finally decides to retire, it will be an impossible spot to fill.

When you listen to him speak recently, his comments lead you to believe he has grown tired of some of the bs associated with being a coach, but I don't think it is to the level that will cause him to retire.

He will retire when he can no longer meet his own personal expectations or lacks the energy (or interest) required to meet his expectations. I just don't think he is there yet.

Biggest factor IMHO would be Terry - she is the only one that would sway him and make every fanbase in the Power 5 happy. I know it's a longshot, but hey, so is winning the powerball - but it's fun to hope for it...

This right here. As far as I can tell, he doesn't do anything except coach football. He'll literally coach until he dies.

No current plans to retire. As long as he is in coaching, he will be at Bama. The gumps will have him coaching or in administration as long as he has breath. Bear Bryant's brand is fading nationally and Saban has become the new standard bearer (no pun intended) of the Bama brand. They will do whatever it takes to keep him on board.

Saban said he has been part of a team since he was 11 years old. His biggest fear is not being part of a team. He is not about to retire.
I hate losing to him, but we will not see the likes of him again.

ZERO!!! The man has no life. He is a humorless, A-Hole who has only football in his life.

Zero. He actually seemed to enjoy himself last night. Smiles and jokes.
