Fletcher Mackel ?@FletcherMackel - Chad Jones baseball UPDATE - Jones worked out for TB Rays scout Thursday. Source tells me "Jones 87-89 fastball, solid curve."

At that speed, it comes down to hitting your spots and movement on his fastball. Wish him the best

he was low 90s with that fastball a few years back. i guess some of that loss in velocity can be attributed to not having full power in his push off leg.

Location is key for every pitcher. 89 isnt important, nor is it dominant. I hope he makes it, but i doubt it

I'm guessing his bad leg isn't his push off leg? I don't remember which one got messed up. Best of luck to him.

He injured his left leg and he is a LHP. It is most definitely his push off leg.

That's extremely impressive velocity for someone who was what, 3-4 years out of baseball? It wasn't like he was throwing mid 90s before. It seemed he usually sat in 90-92ish range.

Would like to see him with the Rays. There isn't a better organization at developing pitchers.

Could easily be a left-hand specialist, dude is one of my favorite tigers. Love watching him come in to pitch that CWS trip.

His velocity should increase as he gets more into baseball shape. And he's a lefty which makes him much more valuable.

He's also a lefty with great athleticism. Chances he makes the big leagues is rare, but he can hang around in professional baseball for a long time as a lefty specialist out the pen to get a lefty at the plate out with that sweeping hook he has.
