CFN Preview '16: Ranking 128 College Football Head Coaches Miles#5

5. Les Miles, LSU Tigers, 2005
Career Record: 139-53, School Record: 112-32
Everyone tried to kill him off last year – and now he’s about to win his second national title. He has the best team in the country coming into the season, he’s coming off a solid nine-win season that would’ve been ten wins if the opener wasn’t cancelled due to bad weather, and his only real crime is that he’s been in the same division as Alabama. With that said, he’d better hit the double-digit win mark this year.

Top five!
This will not sit well with the " unhappy with Miles" crowd especially with him being ahead of Jimbo.
If I'm going to be honest, I wouldn't have him ahead of Jimbo at this time.

damn the offseason
"top 15 long snappers"
we'll all come to a conclusion on miles after this season. its put up or shut up time. his most talented team, sans 2006. he must get the crimson monkey off his back and win the west. anything les is unacceptable.

Nah IMO 2011 had way more talent expecially on defense. 2011 had 8 players just on the dline tbat went on to make a nfl roster.

I cant argue for or against your opinion. I see your point. I think some of our O talent matches up. either way, I think we have a "window" that closes for a couple of years after 2016. if miles has another November like he's put up the last few years, he's expired.

For winning NC and playing for others, Stoops should be in top 5 with Miles.
Dantonio really didn't seize the moment when UM was down.
Richt should be top 10 also.

Huh? He's won the B1G three times, won a Rose Bowl and made it to the playoff. He's had a pretty incredible run for Sparty recently.

Yes. Our 2011 secondary had more talent, rueban randle odbjr and Landry were more talented and our dline was far more talented.
This notion that 2016 is more talented than 2011 is just guessing.our 2011 back ups on the dline are better than 2016 starters.
Our 2015 defense wasnt even that good. We gave up 20 points to everyone last year . only 3 teams failed to score 20 points against us and one of thos eteams scored 19.

Id definitely take 2016 rbs but id take Randle, ObJr,Boone, and Landry over 2016 wrs but its close. I expect Dupre to explode this year.

Meh, no NC or even a final, and 2 weak B1G titles with UM having 10 years of troubles parallel with tOSU sanctions is undeserving of a top 5 imo.
Good coach, but not that lofty yet.

" good coach"
Tell me the college football programs who in the last 11 years have 112 wins, three divisional titles, two National championship game appearances, A national title, ranked in the too 8 5 times,,ranked in the too 17 9 times, And undefeated in OOC play.
I can only think of a handful of programs who come close to having that type of achievement in the last 11 years.. It's extremely difficult for any program to maintain that kind of consistency for that length of time in today's world of SEC/college football. IMO

Dantonio has 2 NC app and a title?
I think there's a bad PSR (post subject recognition).

Outside of tOSU, not many national champions have been produced by that conference in recent decades. It's not like MSU expects to be playing for the NC yearly either.
Perhaps top 5 is a bit lofty, but when you consider how bad that program was when he got there and the success he's had with a lot of 3-star talent, I think the argument can be made. Even Saban was largely mediocre there.

Who knows bout MD, but I would not have him Too 10 at this time. Big 10 has been a weak football conference bout the whole time he has been there....overall. I know the conference perked up a tad lately, but Bama beating them 38-0 tells me they have a ways to go yet before he gets Top 5 billing .
I can't put a coach at #4 when he is at a program 9 yrs without playing for a title and you have others coaches who have played for a title while playing in stronger conferences and who have overall higher winning percentage against tougher competition .

Wait.... Ricky you have said just last week that the 2011 rbs were better than this years. Make up your mind.
