.I actually think the Top tier was a lot stronger and therefore greater competition in the bowl games and big OOC matchups.

I disagree, the top teams are more or less = now, just not as deep. But you have a lot more teams that could beat you.

Saban wins another MNCC there's no doubt he should be ranked with the best.
Wouldn't have done it though without LSU.

....And all of his success has come in the SEC, the premier Conference in the land! He'd definitely be up there.

Am I correct when I say this era is more difficult to recruit in than the Bear Bryant era because of scholarship restrictions? Wasn't Bear allowed to bring in as many players as he wanted?

Saban hasn't exactly been a paragon in following the letter and purpose of the scholie rules.

Greatest of all time talk in anything is lame. Different eras, factors, etc regardless of topic. Saban already in conversation as one of the best.

People still can't get over Saban....
He is one of the best if not the best in modern era and he will go down as all-time great

How can you argue? I'll go one further and say he IS the best college coach ever. He is also doing what he's doing with a 25 per year scholarship limitation, and a total team limit of 85 scholarship players. Back in the day, the power schools could sign a shite load of kids in order to keep other schools from getting them. Scholarship limitations have made college football a sport of parity, except for Saban coached teams. Sorry, but that's the truth. The guy is a machine.

All this. If he wins another MNC, in this era no less, it isn't even debatable.

No limits mean you have a wider margin for error and it's certainly more competitive now, but you also have much better information about players, which makes it easier to evaluate. Its much more competitive overall now, which imo makes it more difficult.

Keep in mind Wilkingson, Royalls and his major competitors stockpiled players as well. Its not like he was the only one doing it.

Look at the coaches he cranked out. Only a few such as Paul Brown have been able to do that at his level.
