Lane always viewed O as the help. I never believed he was coming here.

Where on is resume does it show that he is a proven defensive coordinator? Him being the DC at Jeanerette and Franklin High tells alot, especially seeing how unprepared the defense was. Is this just a case of the old Rooney Rule?

Unless you can pull every LB and safety off the field I don’t know what you want Jones to do. You have to have at least a couple of players in those positions and we have none. Scheme wasn’t the issue last night.

Anyone who thinks this is solely Jones’ defense is confused. CEO clearly said before the year started he was going to be “more involved” in the defense. I just don’t believe a guy with NFL experience around guys like Zimmer doesn’t send more blitzes and make simple adjustments anyone on this board could make. It really seemed like CEO had a piss poor game plan from jump and was so stubborn he didnt change it. He must feel the seat getting hot and figures he would rather go down on his own than someone else.

I think je would have come here. But it would have been as a springboard to a better HC job and after he left we’d still need Ed to not frick up hiring his replacement.

People act like NFL teams don’t hire NFL assistants to be DCs.

Our DC was recommended by Aranda and our OC was recommended by Joe Brady. Our HC can’t make his own decisions.

You talking about the coach in your pic there lmao time to change that bud!

Aranda didn’t want to work for coach O that was a given why because the dude doesn’t know Xs and Os

So we’re paying zerO 8 million a year to get recommendations on who to hire? Why the frick do we need this clown?

Keep seeing this but does anyone have any documentation for this?

Ed can’t come to his own conclusions is what I gather. Has to go ask Pete Carroll, Aranda, Brady for who to hire. You’d think a coach that follows the sport would know multiple guys off the top of his head that he’d want to work with

I believe he made his own decisions and didn’t let the coordinators have this game. It looked like some bs cookie cutter base defense with no stunts, walking safeties down, blitzes, anything.
Then you take a look at the offense and there were little to no adjustments made to their zone defense. They were giving us 10yds+ at the LOS and there wasn’t one read that we made pre-snap to throw it to the playmaker in space and let him make a play as we were lead to believe. Then all this hype about Max Johnson being addicted to film but yet we take 30+ seconds to read the defense every play and have zero faith in him reading it on his own.
It’s just hard to believe 2 coordinators with NFL experience are that capable of screwing up a game plan that badly.
Don’t be suprised if the play book “opens up” the next few weeks. The only thing CEO should do at this point is be hands off.

Personally, I think the 3-4 is the better defense, it is more flexible for stopping modern passing game, gives you more options to send a 4 man rush that come from different angles.
4-3 only works if you can pressure with 4 and they are studs. But when you line up in a 4 man front, it is much more predictable to block. A much more conservative defense, need a middle LB that can make tons of tackles.
Personally, I think modern Passing game with the way QB's are trained have a much easier time attacking a 4-3 than 3-4, but I am not making 8 million dollars to piss on Dave Aranda's 3-4 and I guess if Jones is/was recommended by Aranda, is probably at his core a 3-4 guy as well. The Bengals DC Lou Anarumo uses a 3-4 scheme, Mike Zimmer was a 4-3 guy so Jones may want to run a 3-4, he worked with Aranda and Anarumo who are 3-4 guys but also with Zimmer who is a 4-3.

I think I remember Jones saying he wanted an aggressive 4-2-5 look. There was nothing aggressive about that defense. Something tells me he was handcuffed.

If Orgeron says Aranda recommended D.Jones and Arnsparger recommended Archer.....see where I am going with this logic?
Aranda probably said nothing to Orgeron, besides, note how many lies Orgeron tells in his pc’s and tv show.....

Well let’s pretend that u are n a regional vp type role and the ceo says two key stores are struggling and it must be fixed this year and u go hire two people who haven’t run a store. Kinda risky
