So no matter what you think of gymnastics (and if you hate it move on, no "minor sport" comments needed) this is a big weekend as we can finally get out of lower half of sec, where we have dwelled for last 30 years, last year's team maybe had more experience and finished 3rd in SEC out of 7 and then missed final 6 when last minute line up changed caused fail. But this year's team has matured fast and maybe we can finally get DD and our program another (2nd ever) sec title. Not being in Birmingham helps, so let's geaux lady tigers, been a long time, with new coaches at uga,ala and uf, this is our year!

Win the beam and wn it all, sec is best conf lets win it, finally...

Our road win at Florida convinced me. If we can win there with a great score, we can definitely win the SEC. The 2 great scores since then have only reinforced that.

The problem is the SEC meet is really meaningless, you don't want to get anyone hurt and you could finish 4th or 5th in SEC meet and come back and finish top 3 in NCAA meet.

This team seems more mentally tough than in the past. Unfortunately many of our very good teams totally collapse in the post season pressure. Even though the team is young they have a lot of international and top competitive experience. Would be nice to win for a change.

It's not just Alabama. Our road loss at UGA stands out like a sore thumb. Blatant home cooking there, prolly because LSU assistant coach Jay Clark used to be Head Coach at Georgia.

The UGA Gymdogs have lost most of their matches since their win over LSU.

We have never finished higher than 6th nationally, lets win SEC, tired of losing for 30+ years to fl, Bama,uga.... All,of their long time coaches are gone, it's our time, I would love to wn it all, but just to wn SEC would be a once in generation event....

I think we can, Ashleigh Gnat is one of the best in the country.
Finnegan, who I think should be freshman of the year has really turned the corner.

Having Priessman back on bars is huge.
Myia Hambrick has been very consistent this year so I can count on her doing well again.

Beam has been fantastic lately as has bars. With floor and vault being best in the country.
Who the judges are kinda concerns me, but I think we have as good of a shot as ever.

The team usually takes on the persona of their head coach and DD has always caved under pressure.

I don't see her making the same mistake with last year with altering the rotation.

What we have now is perfect and nothing should be changed.
The frick up early on beam ruined it all but we should be fine.

Why you hate DD so much?

She took her worst on balance beam and started her on it during the NCAAs last year.

When she fell, the rest of the team's assholes started producing diamonds and it steamrolled into several falling.

So are you blaming the team for last year's Choke?

Are you talking about Hall? She was a long time lead off on beam, and she didn't fall. She wobbled away her start value and had a score as low as a fall, but she stayed on.

I don't know what was going on with her last year, but she was a senior with tons of experience as beam lead off, so it wasn't a crazy decision to have her lead off. The other potential lead off was Williams, who if iirc had competed twice for LSU on beam. I do think she would've done a great job though.

LSU finished 2nd at SECs last year (highest since 2005 in Gwinnett/UGA territory), and third at NCAAs in 2014 in Birmingham... Can't wait to see them tomorrow in Little Rock and I'm of course pulling for them to compete to their potential...which is huge!!!

Sorry! In a 40 year span, DD has not done it, what ya think will change?

Breaux hung a banner, bogus, there were 3 or 4 Clubs in SEC, so DD want to claim it. Faux......truth is she will not leave but has never shown wherewithal to coach championships....with ALL her outstanding male assistants who have a clue.

Hopefully LSU wins it and we get a truly competent HC! Enough already with all the distracting glitter & laughter! Girls deserve the best coaches, we have the facilities, resources and Talent!!

It will come down to hitting bars and beam. They have gone 49.475 the last two weeks on bars. They must score 49.4+ on bars to stay with Florida. Beam is about hitting solid sets. They can get the 9.9 scores needed if they hit solidly but that is purely on the mental toughness. Macadaeg and Hambrick set the pace. Floor and vault should be money and it is nice to end on our strongest events since scores tend to build. But Florida ends on floor and Florida gets the benefit of the doubt over everyone else so you must beat them soundly. Bama is always in it, they really know how to peak for post-season.

By the way, we weren't 3rd last year at SECs. We finished 2nd. We lost to a steady Bama after we struggled on beam. Florida struggled even more on beam than we did and finished 3rd. It was ours for the taking, we beat Bama on 3 out of the 4 events (and to be fair; Florida beat us on 3 out of 4 but beam cost them even more than it cost us) but beam cost us big time.

Umm, we finished 3rd just two years ago and we were 5th once before as well.

And saying DD was dumb for starting Hall on beam last year is ridiculous. Hall was lead off on beam for a long time and she always got us to a solid start. She was never going to score in the 9.9 range but she could give us a score we could use if we needed to. She was shaky and it all went downhill from there but I don't know how DD could have seen that coming.

Breaux has done so much for the sport here at LSU. Maybe she hasn't won many titles but she has done a lot considering LSU was never able, until recently, to recruit big names. She had to earn respect over a long period and fight with many ADs to get support. The training facility is something she has fought for for a long time. The crowds at the PMAC back in 2002 when I began LSU were small, a couple thousand for most meets. This season they had their first official sell out. The numbers gymnastics pulls is competes with any sport on campus not called football.
