I know C Jones will most likely be playing in the NFL nexy year, and that the Brewers will retain his rights for 1 year becasue they drafted him, but could they sign him to a contract, say 7 years, 5,000 a year (an example number) just to keep him in their orginizaiton? It would probably count against their minor leaque roster or keep him on IR, but just in case he would later want to pitch. Just a thought. . . .

Since he was drafted by NFL and will sign with NFL, I think the Brewers actually retain his rights as long as his NFL career lasts.

Brewers wasted a draft pick but if three or four years from now, football is not working out, he can try baseball.

This. And after a few years of putting his shoulders on the line hitting people you may screw yourself out of money. Risk seriously outweighs reward.

any minor league teams in the MY/NJ area?

he could be traded to one of them and play both possibly, come out of the pen for the Mets or play some LF

Yeah because that 6 2/3 innings he pitched last year makes him ready for the big leagues.

how many 50th round players are starting in the majors? is it really a waste? the dude is 5th round talent. NFL doesn't work out for Chad, then the Brewers may have made the steal of the draft.
