Except one has a 5* woman beater.

This will be the best team we have played so far and they have athletes that are at least in the same area code of talent as ours

State doesn't have BYU's 6''9 defensive end that we paid special attention to

Is that the exceptionally slow Polynesian who's never played football before?

I'm just saying that this is the first team with comporable athletes all around.

La Tech was avg over 4 yds a rush against Miss St last week. The 87 yard loss made States run defense numbers look great. This was according to Espn this morning.

State will at least somewhat be in the same league as us as far as speed goes. BYU was completely overwhelmed with our speed. I didn't get to see the Chattanooga game but I'm sure we were a good bit faster than them too. I just know BYU didn't have a prayer with our speed versus theirs.

LSU has Aranda, who will keep their offense in check for the most part.

MSU has a much improved defense.

Both teams will burn a lot of clock.

Take the under.

LOL
States lines are way better than BYU, especially the DL

I know from my film study that they both play with five offensive linemen, so yeah.

This is true - I think the OP's point is that MSU has a similar personnel philosophy to BYU - somewhat smaller than average OL players that are more athletic. While I can't say MSU's DL are huge, they're certainly in the normal range of size and play bigger, stronger linebackers than normal. Our style of play on both sides of the ball may make this game a good matchup for us (and, ergo, bad for MSU).

We'll see soon enough ...

You mean the basketball player who, because of his height, was out-leveraged all game and pushed aside with ease?

Just because a guy is big doesn't mean he's a good lineman. State and BYU will play later this year, so we can watch them head to head, but there are really no similarities other than maybe size

Umm. .. Not quite.

State has a good front 7, and Simmons is a first round pick.

No--I'm referring to the guy who started and actually played-he was a handful

That's right, but it was not just 4, it was 4.9.

Tech had 152 on 50 carries for ~3.0 including the 87 yard loss. Removing the loss results in 239 on 49 carries for 4.9 y/c. That figure is still includes lost yardage from the 4 sacks MSU had. So factoring those out (total of 25 sack yards lost), their true rush defense allowed 264 on 45 for 5.9 y/c.
