BYU maybe not as bad as they looked.

I did not know much about BYU when we played them. The game looked like a mismatch from the stands, like.a 5A high school team playing a 1A school.
I went back and looked at their records the last couple of years. Last year BYU beat Arizona, Miss State, romped Michigan State and beat a ranked Boise State. They had very close losses to UCLA and West Va. Two years ago they beat Nebraska, Boise State and lost to UCLA by one.
This makes LSU's dominance that much more impressive. You can see by last year's win over Miss State why some BYU fans were thiinking they had enough horses to be physical with LSU. I think BYU fans were truly surprised by LSU's physical dominance of their team.
I know this year's BYU team is different than last year's, but they have a decent program and this was maybe more of a quality win for LSU than I first thought. Yes it's a game LSU was supposed to win, but teams lose games they are supposed to win all the time. Ask Texas about that.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with you.

It's a lackluster BYU team, but they held up decently at the point of attack and their guys made a few nice tackles. They just don't have much of an offense and didn't play very inspired. I think they'll be a 6-6, 7-5 type team.

If they beat Utah this weekend, a lot of people will get excited.

I thought their defense was pretty good, Guice could never break a big one and other than the chark bomb they allowed no big plays... held us to many FG attempts. If they had more offense, they'd be a really good team

2 games and 2 crap performances. They're a solid program, but evidence suggests this team is trash.

Their front 7 is very solid, and they have an excellent TE. They are below average everywhere else.

You are correct about BYU totally!
It is only one game. Thomas Ritter awaits.

I agree....we will know more within the next two weeks when BYU plays Utah and Wisconsin...
It really aggravates that some people expected a lopsided win like we were playing a cup cake...BYU is not like playing Kent State...Geez

That's what I though before the game. Now I am not so sure. We will get a better feel after a couple of more games.

I think their offense is going to have problem. They ran well last week but we destroyed their run game.
QB under throws every pass.
Their Defense is disciplined and effective. They aren't super talented but they aren't bums. Good enough to bottle up a play they know is coming

Don't forget, this was BYU's 2nd game and this was LSU's 1st game. With a new offense at that. Lighten up a little. We should see improvement game by game.

BYI's head coach is in way over his head and he looked it all fame long.

They had to fight to beat Portland st. They are usually a decent team, but not this year.

Portland St gave Oregon St all they could handle. Obviously Oregon St isn't very good, but they're still a P5 team.
I think this about BYU:
-poor QB play
-poor skill position players
-decent offensive line (we really didn't get much pressure without blitzing, or stunting)
-solid, hard nosed, well coached defense
I think at the end of the year they'll be a 6 or 7 win bowl team.

Arizona, Mich. St and MSU all had losing records last season. Those may have "looked" like impressive wins, but they really weren't.
If BYU loses to Utah this week then they are staring at a 1-3 start with Wisconsin coming in the week after. They may end up with a winning record because the rest of the schedule is awful (minus Boise St and Miss. St.), but they have looked bad in their first two games.
That isn't a knock on LSU, just that this probably isn't one of the BYU teams of yesteryear

U understand the sentiment but they are almost a lock for 9 wins (they play 13). They can lose the next 3 and still easily run the table - back half of their schedule is horrible
