According to Tom Pelissero of NFL, Burrow’s hands measured 9 inches this morning — on the small side for what people want to see in throwers of the football (and certainly comparable to the mitts of the portion of Shaquille O’Neal we were able to squeeze into this frame).

quote:

The Bengals, and those hoping he falls, will continue to probe his past, particularly this: One team told me if Burrow had left LSU after his mediocre 2018 season, that team would have given him approximately a fifth-round grade. And now he’s likely to go number one. So should 15 otherwordly games in 2019 (60 touchdowns, six interceptions) bury the evidence of 2018?

quote:

I said, ‘Joe, you’re gonna get asked this question at the combine: Why the unbelievable leap from last year to this year?’

“He said, first of all, he’s a grad transfer. Most grad transfers transfer in the spring. He said, ‘I got to LSU after the freshmen had already reported for full camp.’ So you talk about trying to learn everything in a heartbeat and try to get to know your teammates, and then plug in and be ready to play. That’s the first part of it. Second part, he hadn’t played much football in the previous three years. There was some rust.

quote:

His super-power is his ability to see the entire field, to work through progressions, and then throw the ball accurately. So they kind of unlocked that super-power this last year. And the rest is history.”

His fumble issues and inability to throw an accurate ball surely make this measurable impactful....oh wait.

No chance in hell. Maybe the bengals are dumb enough to take Young or Tua though and the saints trade the house to the redskins and I get Joe and Zion in the crescent city for the next decade

He's going 1. This is just drama for drama's sake.

Yeah he’s still going 1 but there will be a lot of “teams don’t like his hands” talk up to the draft

Alex Smith got a ton of shite for his hand size of 9.5

If Kyler Murray got drafted #1 there is no way hand size is going to do Burrow in.

Murray actually has bigger hands. I was actually surprised that I have bigger hands.

Murray hands were 9.5”

9” is smallllllll for an nfl qb.

AFC north is the last division you want to play in with small hands

Yeah Hand size is kind of an outlier thing that doesn’t always correlate with how big a guy is

Russell Wilson has massive hands for example if I remember correctly.

Overall for the top flight QBs teams don’t worry too much about it, i think it’s mostly a trait some teams like to identify in late round prospects

I think one of Bill Parcells old adages was they need to have big hands and have started over 30 games in college. Belicheck adopted the big hands thing as well although I don’t think he’s as much of a stickler about it as parcells was

They are going to nitpick him to death and he somehow falls into the middle of the top 10 and a good team jumps up to grab him.
