The implication being that Fournette isn't?

Fournette is typically taller than the prototype RB, but that doesn't mean he can't be elite. (Earl Campbell, Dickerson, Eddie George, etc.)

Chubb was clearly the better back last year. I'm not sure how anyone could argue that. Going forward....I go with the guy who has the better vision, and that is Chubb by a wide margin. LF probably has better upside of physical skills, but Chubb's vision tells me he will be more consistent. Just my opinion...

while LF was the better all purpose player

The "all purpose yards" stat is so misleading.

If you want to use "yards from scrimmage" then that would be a more accurate gauge of production since it would include rushing and pass receiving.

But kick returns skew the numbers big time. Even a bad kick returner who gets 15-20 yards per return will rack up 100 yards per game (and maybe more if the opponent scores a lot).

Including those yards in the stats is just misleading - and by the way, I've felt this way for years, not just related to Fournette.

LF had a bullseye on his chest every game, from the very first game. Chubb snuck up on everyone.

Chubb wins round one, and there is no debate on that. Yes he did have a MUCH better passing game that allowed it to be a little easier on him, but he averaged nearly 24 carries a game in his starts. The knew he was getting the ball in most games, and he still delivered against the better competition. His vision is also elite. He just "got it".

I've told this to several UGA fans though, it's a 3 year race and man, He's going to improve a lot. Chubb also hasn't reached his peak, but I also think he won't match his success from last year either. I got Fournette as the best back in CFB over the next two years.

LF touched the ball 218 times for 1786 yds.

NC touched the ball 237 times for 1760 yds.

Now, those numbers aren't entirely fair for Chubb as they include LF's special teams contributions.

It's arse backwards is what it is. A kick off return should net 20+ yards per attempt. Chubb had a better season.. period. Fournette looks special and he's going to beast out this season.

No disagreement here, although I think Chubbs' numbers definitely take a hit in LSU's offense
