"It's not just LSU's losses. It's how the losses happened. It's letting Retin Obasohan put 35 on you in your own building. It's managing just 0.87 points per possession against Tennessee, the SEC's 12th-best defense. It's repeating that exact figure against Arkansas -- the league's 10th-ranked per-possession defense -- three nights later. It's how utterly the team collapsed in the second half of those two losses, when UT scored 50 points, the Razorbacks 51, how both games devolved into blowouts. It's the postgame interviews with Keith Hornsby and Craig Victor II and Ben Simmons all essentially agreeing that the Tigers were not playing hard. It's coach Johnny Jones, in a brave attempt to remain positive, disagreeing with that premise despite all evidence to the contrary. It's a team that is clearly talented in ways that go beyond the future No. 1 draft pick. A team that has added stagnant, predictable offense to its pre-existing defensive woes -- a team that needed a strong SEC season and an even stronger finish to overcome its disastrous nonconference portion of the season. That's what's most disappointing about LSU. It's not that the Tigers won't make the NCAA tournament. It's that most of the time, it's impossible to tell if they even care."

it's basketball. just like baseball. the beauty of the two sports is "it's not over til the tourney".

wish football had two chances to get into the playoffs as well.

It will be interesting to see how many people show up to the PMAC.

Or that you could never predict what would happen in any game because you couldn't assume anything with this team. Someone mentioned "higher floor" a few days ago when talking about Duke and UK. It got me thinking about the context of that statement. If you consider every teams best and worst performance over a season, it establishes the watermarks which the NCAA uses to determine qualifying teams and seeds. That delta would also be the most accurate measurement of the coaching on any team.

It makes me sick to think about the highs and lows over this season. If we charted those metrics as a score for every game, this year would look like a fricking EKG recording. Smaller programs have an excuse for not hiring and/or retaining good coaches. We pay top dollar and get pathetic ROI. And that comment really wouldn't apply to Les because you can't argue that his ROI is up there with the best in football.

We wrote them off after the terrible start to the season but were given a glimmer of hope with a great first half of SEC play. Now we have written them off again but watch how these bastards get our hopes up by making it to the Semis of the SEC tournament. I hate this team but continue to be pulled back in just to be disappointed again.

I'll be there tomorrow

If they can just play hard for 40 minutes and win these next two it'll at least make the trip to Rupp slightly interesting

LSU shouldn't even be in consideration, and that really sucks.

I like that metaphor, especially since we flatlined 3 games ago.

we deserve the boot.

This does not mean the team cannot redeem themselves.

there's only one way to make the playoffs in football. that's automatic bid.

Hard to argue. The only way we have a chance at an at-large now is by winning out until the SEC tournament final. Lose before then, and it's auto bid or bust.
