He believes that LSU has more competition for great talent than USC does... How many major programs in CA? How many in Louisiana?

What an idiot.

He's either a great troll, or an idiot. I'll go with the latter.

That's a dumb comparison. There's no job opening at USC.

The thing is though, USC has hired multiple coaches and still been nothing but a fail.. time and time again..

LSU has shown they can make the transition while still receiving the talent.. if even an avg coach like Miles can come in to an established program and maintain success.

I would absolutely be considering that as well.

I also don't appreciate Brando ripping LSU's leadership, yet what about USC's?

I believe LSU is a better fit than USC, just given they have been reeling for some time.

He says that LSU is a "big time" job, but keeps saying that we can't compete with Texas or USC for coaches, and need to limit ourselves to guys like Kiffin and Fedora.

Even LSU recruits SoCal. Adoree Jackson was a lot closer than most people think.

To be fair (and, I don't agree with his point)...but he was saying that the kids in the footprint of USC all want to go to USC (very minimally UCLA)

He was saying that the great kids in LSU's area consider Bama, aTm, etc.

He was not saying LSU doesn't GET most of those. Only that their is COMPETITION for them moreso than a great player in USC area.

USC could probably field a two deep depth chart on both sides of the ball recruiting from within 50 miles of their campus. While per capita Louisiana talent is unmatched, the population of southern California is immense. So one could argue the point.

In 2014 New Orleans alone had a better top 4 than all of California

I don't think talent will be a problem for Herman in either of those choices

^ cam rob was only non Nola guy in top 5. Not to mention LSU had a better shot at Adoree than USC has with any of our players

Recruiting California is like recruiting the entire southeast.

The comical comment was that "every kid in SoCal wants to be a Trojan when he grows up." He just described Louisiana and LSU while college sports are an after thought on the West Coast compared to the south. Kids grow up there thinking far more about the NFL while kids here think college a whole lot more.

True, while there are other major programs in CA, none compare to USC Football. USC basically has first dibs on all the talent out west. Before Oregon came about, USC had little competition, except from Michigan and ND. We are fighting bama, a&m, texas, AU, UGA, Ole Miss, and other programs for talent.

LSU is not the school of the south.
USC is the school of the west.

I'm watching now and can't stop laughing at these idiots. No clue. For a reporter to actually say on TV that a coach said no to LSU while at the beginning of the season needs to be suspended.

I have no problem with Brando taking his shots at the pols & big shot boosters. Where is he wrong beyond saying so on national tv? Do you honestly feel LSU has great leadership??? Cann't see USCw firing their HC after only one season, as counting Sark, Coach O, and now this guy, that would mean, with a new coach, they would have had 4 HC in less than 4 yrs if my math is correct.

This goes over the head of many on this board, but you're right.

USC in its heyday was also a national recruiting power. By and large they were getting who they wanted. It is often as simple as thinking about whether you'd prefer to spend 4 years in Baton Rouge or Los Angeles.
