He gave that broad he was railing a job in the football office.

Yeah, I'd say that merits being fired.

I have to say, I am actually upset that BMFP is leaving. Not for the arkansas fans, but just because I really enjoyed the rivalry that was brewing, especially after the game last year when BP lost his shite.

But G1, did she know what she was doing in her office job? Or did she just blow at her other job? I dunno, I think Petrino is a prick after the way he acted after the game this year...but I don't know here we draw the line anymore. Hell, in the pros a coach is gone forever becuase he wants his defense to knock the nuts off of players on his opponent's offense. Because he (or someone) used the word "bounty"?

And I have to say that I've seen Coach Miles at swim meets in which my best friend's son participates in BR. Although he stands off to the side away from everyone, including his wife, he is the picture of a perfect family man. Pretend for a moment it's all a front, that he's got a young woman on the side, gets her a job typing in the AD's office, but wins 12 game a year. Do we fire him?

Yes. He's the head football coach. He's held to a bit higher standard than 18 year old recruits.

He goes into families houses and recruits players, telling mom and dad something like,"I'll teach your boy the skills he needs to be a man and have a promising life after his time at Arkansas."

And he does this stuff. What's that tell his players? Er..... former players. What's that tell future recruits, regardless of where he may end up, what's that say to future recruits parents?

Bottom line is he got caught and is now embarrassed about it. Not thinking about what he was doing cost him his job and I applaud Jeff Long for doing it. It put a black eye on the University and he did what needed to be done.

Couldn't happen to a "nicer" guy. I don't feel bad for him in the least.

Birdmonster - I don't feel bad for the prick either. But did he hold himself out as a junior minister at the local Baptist Church? He's a frickin' football coach. Do his actions embarass Arkansas? ARKANSAS? Think Bama would run off Nicky Boy for the same thing? Not in a billion years. They ran off the idiot who got caught at the strip club in Pensacola(?), but Tide football was nowhere, and so was he. Big Ben wrecked a motorcycle. Louisville didn't even consider firing Pitino. Ah well, who cares, really, it ain't us. But I would bet that if it came down to a five-star recruit who really wanted to play for the Hogs, he'd give a shite about Petrino's actions, even in hiring his (fine) girlfriend. These coaches all have shite in their closet, just like we all do. I admit being impressed that the AD didn't let Petrino's success, and he has been successful following Houston Nutt, influence his decision.

He compromised himself when he lied to his boss. Trust is important and vital to just about all relationships. Your wife is fricking another mN and keeps it cover from you for a year. You would throw her out in a heartbeat on both counts. Your boss cannot trust you he has every right to cut bait.

Salty - I confess I didn't know Petrino had lied to his boss(es). That'll get you every time ---ask Sean Payton.

When you lose to LSU you get angry. When you get angry you buy a Harley. When you buy a Harley you meet a blonde 25 year old ex volleyball player. When you meet a blonde 25 year old ex volleyball player you ask her to ride on your Harley. When she rides with you on your Harley you end up in a roadside ditch without a job. Don't end up in a roadside ditch without a job. Beat LSU.

"Move to Europe"...

Yeah, morality matters. Ask Swaggert, and about every other TV minister you've ever seen grace your TV. But we're talking about a football coach. I believe when he lied, he died. Riding his secretary and motorcycle at the same time didn't get him fired.
