Bo, Herschel, Derrius? Derrius Guice wants to be among SEC's greatest

What causes the LSU running back to bristle is the implication that he seems like the least likely member of the SEC foursome with two career 250-yard rushing games, joining Auburn’s Jackson, Georgia’s Walker and Kentucky’s Moe Williams.
quote:
Now that Tigers star Leonard Fournette has jumped to the NFL, Guice is preparing for a junior season that will be his first as LSU’s featured back. At this point, that’s a notable difference between Guice and most SEC greats, but he has already matched them in some ways.

His career average of 7.8 yards per carry puts him on pace to smash Jackson’s SEC career record (6.62 YPC, with a minimum of 400 rushes). Those two 250-yard outings in which he joined the club with Bo, Moe and Herschel? He needed a span of only 13 days -- between November outings against Arkansas and Texas A&M -- to crack the 250-yard mark twice. Williams was the only SEC player before Guice to do that twice in the same season (1995).
quote:
“That also motivated me, being behind him and watching his every move. That’s why I liked being behind Leonard,” Guice said. “A lot of people wouldn’t admit to that because everybody wants to be the star before they know what to do.

Of course he does. So does every other back that plays college ball.

The article also has a table that shows the stats for the four players with 250 yard games. Derrius is the only one to have two games of 250 against teams with winning records.
Derrius 2016 - Arkansas 7-6 & Texas A&M 8-5
Bo 1983 & 1985 - Alabama 8-4 & SW Louisiana 4-7
Herschel 1980 & 1981 - Vanderbilt 2-9 & Ole Miss 4-6-1
Moe 1995 - South Carolina 4-6-1 & Cincinnati 6-5

Nice of Guice to say that, but LF could learn from Guice not the other way around. I'm talking pure running back instincts - vision, wiggle, and max effort every carry.

LF wouldve had more 250 yards games than all those rbs if he didnt sit out some 4th quarters in 2015.

He could have had 600 against Ole Miss last year

The scary thing is he wasn't 100 percent

Not sure why people seem to forget this. There were games in 2015 where Fournette took quarters off like he was back in high school and his team was curbstomping some lower tier school. If getting the school record was a thing for either him of Miles, he'd have blasted it several times in 2015 when he was running roughshod over fools.
None of that takes away from what a great back Guice is and will likely be this season as the featured back...but before we move on to the NEXT big thing, it might be nice if LSU fans stop and remember just how great the LAST big thing was without feeling the need to act like he wasn't because to do so would tarnish the next guy.
We can do both...honest.

Don't tell me what to do
But it's crazy how we had both of these backs on the same roster for two years. It'll have to be a 30 for 30 or SEC Storied one day.
