Not for the faint of heart. However, you can see how futile it was to be telegraph to Saban that "chasing a Heisman" rather than a team victory was the agenda.

Watch for the lack of pass protection for Harris. He limped off the field two or 3 times, and there were very few spread sets where he did not get sacked before he could throw. Long single receiver isolation routes are hallmarks of CCC. I wish LF had never heard the word Heisman or that Miles had LF had downplayed it like they did a month ago. When the receivers said they would not have come here if blocking for LF was going to be more important than a balanced offense. That died down after Harris had 3 200+ games.

Whenever Saban praises anything that LSU does well before the game, like "LF is the most talented player in CFB" you can bet that he will show up after the game at midfield with Henry in tow to show off the real 'most talented player'.

Saban said he knew from the first play it was going to be a good night.

LINK Listen to his post game analysis.

Also note how many times the kick and punt returners get sacked immediately. Guice got drilled.

Seriously. I'd rather watch paint dry.

I wish fans would rewatch the games instead of making bs comments about the games.

Rewatching, the game was winnable if the offense had not been so predictable, and Miles/Cam had employed the tempo they practiced all Spring and Summer to prevent substitutions and draw penalties. Passing on first down with 3-5 wide and LF in the read option spread the LOS and neutralized big bodies on speedy receivers, which is Saban's Achilles heel. It righted the ship when LF rushed 14 times for only 37 yds vs USCe. After Moore went down, they went to this ProStyle spread formation from the shotgun and LF had 6 carries for 121 yds. LSU used tempo and ran 83 plays. The shotgun is used on 75+% of NFL plays, under center on 12%.

ALA had 12 first downs and a 10-0 lead by the time LSU had run 12 plays. LF had 6 yds on 6 carries.

“I always get a really good feel in a game when they run that first zone extra and they don’t get anything,” Saban said. “The nose flat-heads the center and five-technique knocks the guy back and the linebacker fills. That’s their bread and butter. To be able to control that with the front seven was really, really good. Those guys did a great job.”
